Courtney Thorne-Smith has a nose for atrociously unfunny sitcoms that somehow remain on the air for years and years.

The former According to Jim star has signed on for a recurring role on Two and a Half Men. She'll portray a new girlfriend for the perpetually unlucky Alan.

Thorne-Smith's character, Lindsay, is a recent divorcee and with a teenage son. No word yet on when she'll debut on the sitcom.

The actress got her big break on the original Melrose Place and also played a key role on Ally McBeal.
