Jurnee Smollett Joins Cast of Defenders

Jurnee Smollett, who came aboard Friday Night Lights on the show's fourth season, has joined the cast of the new CBS legal drama, Defenders. The actress will portray an associate named Lisa.

The series revolves around a pair of charismatic, fiery Las Vegas defense lawyers, one of whom will be portrayed by Jim Belushi. It premieres this fall.

Smollett has also appeared on episodes of Grey's Anatomy and House. She'll film the Defenders pilot prior to returning to Austin in April to begin work on Friday Night Lights' final season, reports Entertainment Weekly.
