Pia Toscano Outshines the American Idol Field

at .

Pia Toscano threw it down last night on American Idol.

Her performance of Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High" made it obvious that on this night at least, we were looking at Pia Toscano vs. everyone else.

She didn't just nail it, as Steven Tyler said. She annihilated it. "Murderer! Murderer! You killed it!" he said. Here's the performance that outclassed the field:

Compared to Pia, none of the other eight finalists really knocked it out of the park, although the judges were generally kind of all of their inspired efforts.

James Durbin sang the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," while Casey Abrams took Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain."

Others covered pioneers Elvis Presley (Scotty McCreery), Johnny Cash (Paul McDonald), Aretha Franklin (Lauren Alaina) and Michael Jackson (Jacob Lusk).

Haley Reinhart played off her early Janis Joplin comparisons with by covering the rocker's "Piece of My Heart." Who do you think is in danger this evening?

This is just a guess, but we'd put Stefano Langone, McDonald and Lusk in the bottom three. None of them really stood out Wednesday night. Do you agree?
