Laura Innes to Play Police Captain on Awake

Laura Innes is trading in her scrubs for a badge.

The actress - best known for her role as Kerry Weaver on ER, but who also starred on The Event, though we like to pretend that series never existed - will play a recurring role on Awake, a highly-anticipated midseason drama from NBC.

Starring Jason Isaacs, Awake centers around a police detective who exists in two worlds: in one, his wife died in a car accident; in the other, his son was the victim. Innes will appear often as Captain Tricia Harper, who is concerned over the mental state of Isaacs' Michael Britten.

We've seen the Awake pilot and can confidently warn readers to save room on their DVR. It's great.
