So Elena apparently discovered to close last night's episode of The Vampire Diaries and so was made clear in The CW teaser for next week's new installment.

How will Elena's state of mind come into play? In the following sneak peek, we see Damon and Stefan discussing their concern over Klaus' retribution now that Connor and his map are dead, only for the Hybrid to make a house call and make it clear that he knows something about their shared love.
