It's all the rage on television these days.

Pretty Little Liars will premiere a spinoff in October titled Ravenswood. Fans of The Vampire Diaries cannot wait for The Originals. And now The Hollywood Reporter confirms that NBC is considering a follow-up to Chicago Fire.

Like the aforementioned examples, the potential spinoff will air as a backdoor pilot and focus on the Chicago police department, network sources say.

Executive producer Dick Wolf - who knows a thing or two dozen about spinoffs from his Law & Order franchise - would also helm the new series.

It's unclear if any Chicago Fire cast members will take part in the new drama, but it's not unclear why NBC would consider this route: the Peacock doesn't exactly have many established hits.
