Mac is most definitely coming back.

With the Veronica Mars movie starting production next week - and with the cast headed to Comic-Con next month - creator Rob Thomas updated Kickstart supporters of its status in an email yesterday.

And he led it by announcing the return of Tina Majorino as Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie.

"I really wanted Tina in Veronica Mars," Thomas said of the actress recently seen on Grey's Anatomy. "To say I wrote Mac with Tina in mind would be an understatement. I wrote Mac for Tina, and Tina only," Thomas gushed. "Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond. Tina felt like just the sort of girl that Veronica would like and respect. I couldn't be more pleased that she'll be with us for the movie."

Among the other casting confirmations made by Thomas:

• Amanda Noret will be returning as Madison Sinclair.
• Sam Huntington is in as Luke Haldeman.
• Daran Norris will be back as the lawyer Cliff McCormack.
