Sundance Channel announced today that Jason Momoa has been cast in a lead role on The Red Road, a new drama that centers on a sheriff who's trying to keep his family together… while also staving off violence between two communities: his native one and its neighboring Indian town.
According to a network press release, "a terrible tragedy and cover up" will take place involving the sheriff's wife, leading to "an unholy alliance between the sheriff and a dangerous member of the tribe that will come back to haunt all involved."
Momoa (Game of Thrones) will be playing Philip Kopus, a key member of the Ramapo Indian Tribe.
The Red Road has been picked up for six one-hour episodes. No premiere date has been released yet.
