After a very long hiatus, Reign Season 1 Episode 9 represented the fun return of this CW drama, with Mary and Bash getting captured and forced to return to the castle.

Once there, they learned that Catherine is more determined than ever to keep Mary and Francis apart.

It was fun to see Francis wailing away on Bash, who finally enjoyed some very welcome camera time.

And while the first three-quarters or so of the hour was bogged down in debates among characters, the final few minutes involved a flurry of twists, turns, shocks, surprises and awesome action.
