It has been confirmed that Lucy Liu will direct an episode of Elementary Season 3. 

That's good news for the actress.

But the character she portrays on this CBS hit may be in for some bad news come fall, as sources confirm to TV Guide that Elementary is casting for Kitty Winter.

A well-known character from the Sherlock Holmes canon, Kitty will recur as a protégé of the world’s best detective.

Look for Holmes and Winter to form partnership akin to the one he established with Watson before taking the job at MI6, creating tension between Joan and Sherlock.

Elementary Season 3 premieres at 10/9c on Thursday, October 30.
