Morena Baccarin is moving in to Gotham.

The veteran actress (Homeland, The Mentalist) will recur later this year on Gotham Season 1 and may even become a series regular if Fox picks up the series for Season 2.

Baccarin will portray Dr. Leslie Thompkins, described by network insiders as “a gifted and dedicated physician who was a friend of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

The doctor - who played a role in the original DC comics - will attempt to use her skills to assist those in need, which will mean working at the newly-opened Arkham Asylum’s Home for the Criminally Insane.

On top of her medical ability, Thompkins' coolness under pressure will serve her well after she ends up getting in deeper with James Gordon and the dangerous world of Gotham.

Baccarin will debut in early 2015.
