It was New Year’s Eve in Salem and before the ball dropped, Lani revealed she slept with JJ, Abigail hid her panic attack from Chad, and Shane came to town to share that Stefano could still be alive.

Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Kathy from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate JJ and Gabi’s future, Abigail’s secrets, the Phoenix’s possible return, and who needs a new year’s resolution the most in Salem.

Do you want Gabi and JJ to get back together?

Kathy:  No, they seem very mismatched. We haven't really been shown any shared likes, values or goals between the two.

Jack: No, no, a thousand times no. Gabi is incredibly abusive towards JJ, blames him for everything, won't take responsibility for her own behavior, and wants a relationship that's purely fun and doesn't require effort. She is not worthy of him, and he needs to realize it and move on.

Christine: I actually like Gabi and JJ, which is saying something because I used to dislike both characters, but I don’t think they belong together. Some relationships are worth the work, but as Kathy says, these two seem mismatched. Sometimes it’s just better to move on. 

Should Gabi tell Chad about Abigail’s panic attacks?

Kathy: I think Gabi should stay out of it. Her motives would be questioned. Chad should know but Abigail should be the one to tell him. 

Jack: It's not Gabi's place to tell, and what would Chad do about it anyway? If she tells anyone it should be Marlena or Jennifer, but that wouldn't give her an excuse to flirt with Chad some more.

Christine: I do think Chad needs to know. He’s her husband and he can’t help Abigail if she’s constantly hiding things from him. Unfortunately, Gabi is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. If she tells Chad, Abby will think she did it to make her look bad in Chad’s eyes. If she says nothing, her friend could get worse without help. 

How do you feel about the possibility that Stefano is still alive.

Kathy: I am not really surprised but there is no way to bring Stefano back to Salem unless there were scenes filmed before Joe Mascolo's death. Is he going to be wandering around Eastern Europe forever?

Jack: If Joe Mascolo was still with us I think I would feel this is typical Stefano, although I don't see how that gets Hope off the hook anyway -- she still killed SOMEONE. But with the actor having passed away, it just feels like it's in bad taste.

Christine: I agree. With the actor’s passing, this feels like nothing more than a cheap ploy to try and exonerate Hope for a murder she obviously committed. The writers wrote Hope into a corner, but in my opinion, this isn’t the way to writer her out of it. 

Choose one character and the resolution you’d like to see them stick to in 2017.

Kathy: Nicole -- become the strong, independent woman that can raise a smart, strong, little girl.

Jack: I want JJ to resolve to stand up for himself and not beg for forgiveness from abusive people anymore.

Christine: Kathy took mine! How about Abigail stops keeping secrets and gets a real therapist, NOT her grandmother! She needs to stop hiding her condition from her husband. If Abby and Chad have any chance at getting back together, and I’m not sure they do, she needs to be more honest with him about what she’s going through. 

Was there anything that disappointed you this week in Salem?

Kathy: Abigail not being honest with herself or Chad. She needs to find a doctor to help her work through her insecurities.

Jack: This whole Gabi/Lani nonsense. Lani, as a cop, can't tell when someone is blacked out drunk? Please. And Gabi being angry about who it was is also ridiculous. Plus Lani's "proof" showed nothing. Also, Jade and Joey are not the romance of the century and I wish the show would stop portraying them as if they are.

Christine: That Nicole still doesn’t know she has a daughter and probably won’t for a while. For all Nicole has gone through, she deserved to be Holly’s mother from moment one!

What was your favorite quote, scene or story line from this week on Days of Our Lives?

Kathy: My favorite scenes -- Kate helping Adrienne through her chemo treatments. I like that Kate could get passed her feelings and help Adrienne - woman to woman. 

Jack: Kate and Adrienne in the chemo room. I love these realistic, emotional scenes!

Christine: It’s unanimous. Kate and Adrienne have become the most entertaining, watchable twosome on the show.
