Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders will not be solving any more cases at CBS.
The Criminal Minds spin-off has been canceled after two low-rated seasons at the network.
The series followed an elite team of FBI agents who helped Americans involved in crimes on international soil. The cast boasted CSI: New York vet Gary Sinise, but there was minimal interest for the show.
However, like the previous Criminal Minds spin-off, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, it was not met with the best response from critics, and ratings were never great.
Season 1 averaged 6.9 million viewers and a 1.2 rating. The delayed sophomore run launched in March, with little in the way of promotion.
It is currently averaging 5 million viewers and a 0.8. That figure has the series standing as a 22nd highest-rated CBS series out of 26.
Only one series ranking below Beyond Borders clinched a renewal, and that was Elementary. Elementary was saved in part due to the money it makes for CBS.
The network has been vocal in the past about how viable the brand is. With fellow bubble series, Code Black clinching a last-minute renewal yesterday, it was only a matter of time before Beyond Borders was put out of its misery.
There are still two episodes of the series left, and CBS will be airing them together on Wednesday. It's unclear at this stage whether there will be any closure for the fans.
CBS has felt the wrath of fans of 2 Broke Girls in the last few days, with the network opting to pull the plug after six seasons on the air.
Might they pull an NBC and un-cancel any of their series?
