If you've been missing the sass Cat Grant brings to Supergirl, then we're happy to report that Calista Flockhart is staging a comeback to the hit drama series.
Series star, Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers) confirmed the news to reporters ahead of today's Comic-Con panel for the show.
“The way that Calista appears in the first episode is really clever,” she told reporters.
Flockhart was a series regular on Supergirl Season 1 but stepped down when it was announced that production was moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver as a result of the show making a move from CBS to The CW.
That did not stop the character returning in Season 2, however. She still popped up in two episodes of Season 2 as a special guest star.
We're now hearing that her new deal with the drama series means she will be a recurring character, which is way better than wondering whether she will ever return.
Supergirl returns for Season 3 in October, and we can only speculate about how she returns into the story. Will she return to CatCo Worldwide Media for good, or will she just merely stop by to help everyone as and when required?
In her most recent appearance on the series, she helped Kara thwart the Daxamite Invasion.
If you watch Supergirl, this will likely be music to your ears. Cat was such an integral part of the show's original success, and her witty one-liners were always a breath of fresh air from the crazy alien drama going down.
It's not quite a series regular role, but it's a step in the right direction. We're sure the show will handle her return amazingly.
In other Supergirl casting news, it was recently announced that Smallville's Erica Durance would take over Laura Benanti's role as Kara's mother in Season 3.
