Timeless Canceled (Again!) After Two Seasons at NBC

After weeks of waiting, we finally have a decision about what will become of Timeless, and the news is not good.
According to Deadline, the sci-fi drama has been canceled after two seasons at NBC.
The news comes just days before of the options on the cast are due to expire, meaning the cast will need to sign new deals if the show winds up at another destination.
The report states that there is a possibility that NBC could potentially bring the show back for a two-hour wrap-up, but beyond that, it's done at the network.
"This is a sad day for the writers, actors, crew and especially the viewers of Timeless,” co-showrunner Shawn Ryan shared on Twitter Friday.
“We are all extremely proud of what we made and know that it was more than just a show for so many of our fans. It became a passion and a cause for many of them."

“If NBC is sincere in wanting a two-hour movie to give much needed closure to our amazing @NBCTimeless fans, we are ready to make it,” he added. “We don’t want the journeys of Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus and the others to end yet.”
It marks the second year in a row that Timeless has been canceled. However, the original cancellation lasted days as NBC reversed its decision to ax the series and brought it back for another season.
Unfortunately, despite calls from fans to put the show in the family-friendly 8/7c hour, it was buried on Sundays at 10/9c, and the ratings continued to slip. Timeless Season 2 ultimately averaged 2.5 million viewers and a 0.6 rating among adults 18-49.
Those figures represent declines of over 40 percent vs. Timeless Season 1.

The recent Season 2 finale ended on the mother of all cliffhangers with Rufus apparently being killed off, and Lucy and Wyatt being confronted by their future selves, asking them: "You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
"We are hopeful and yet realistic as we have a lot of shows,” NBC boss Bob Greenblatt said ahead of the Season 2 finale.
“We are going to take a look at (Timeless and Champions) after their run and hopefully make a quick decision on them.”
The news is a real shame because the series had a loyal following who have been endlessly tweeting NBC to urge the network to renew the series for more episodes.
