The Originals may be coming to an end, but Riley Voelkel is not leaving The CW behind.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Voelkel has landed a recurring role on Roswell, New Mexico which is slated to debut at midseason.
"After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life," reads the official logline of the drama series.
"She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance."
Voelkel will play Max's partner at the sheriff's department and "prides herself on being a realist who can handle whatever life throws her way."
The cast includes Jeanine Mason, Nathan Parsons, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino and Trevor St. John.
Voelkel joins fellow The Vampire Diaries/ The Originals alums, Nathan Parsons and Michael Trevino who play Max and Kyle, respectively.
Riley has previously appeared on The Newsroom, and American Horror Story. She landed the role of Freya Mikaelson on The Originals back in 2014 and recurred on The Originals Season 2.
However, she struck a chord with fans and was promoted to series regular effective from The Originals Season 3, and Freya's storyline will conclude on the series finale of The Originals which airs tonight at 9/8c.
Her casting on the Roswell reboot likely means Freya will not be making the jump from the vampire drama over to the third spin-off in The Vampire Diaries-verse, Legacies, debuting October 25.
That series will focus on the character of Hope Mikaelson as she navigates her life as tribrid behind the walls of the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and the Gifted.
Roswell, New Mexico is one of five new series that will bow on The CW during the 2018-19 season. The network previously picked up a reboot of Charmed, football drama All American, In The Dark and the aforementioned Legacies.
