The CW's Dynasty is losing another familiar face.
Per TV Line, Nicollette Sheridan is bowing out of the soapy reboot after just over a year in the role of Alexis Carrington.
The CW and CBS Television Studios said, “Nicollette Sheridan will be leaving Dynasty in order to focus on some personal family responsibilities. She was a valuable asset to the show, and we wish her continued success in the future.”
Meanwhile, Sheridan has released her own statement confirming her departure, while lifting the lid on what paved the way for her departure.
“Working on the Dynasty reboot and reprising the iconic role of Alexis has been thoroughly enjoyable, but the chance to spend precious time with my terminally ill mother is more important to me right now," she said via a statement.
"I am profoundly grateful to Mark Pedowitz (The CW) and David Stapf (CBS) for graciously allowing me to return to Los Angeles to be with her, and I wish them and everyone associated with the show nothing but continued success."
"I am hopeful that my fans will embrace my successor with as much passion as they embraced me.”
Sheridan marks the third lead the drama series has lost in less than a year. Nathalie Kelley, who played the original Cristal bowed out following the Dynasty Season 1 finale.
James Mackay bowed out early into Dynasty Season 2 after revealing that he was let go from the series.
With so many changes, one would think that the show was in danger, but that could not be further from the case. The CW has already renewed Dynasty for a third season.
Despite soft on-air ratings on the network, the show has a deal with Netflix that means it makes money for CBS TV Group before the episodes even hit the air.
As for the quality, Sheridan as Alexis has been a real breath of fresh air, so it will be difficult for the show to replace her.
There's word that a recast could be on the cards, but many thought that would have happened when Kelley and Mackay departed.
As of now, Nicollette's final episode is slated to air in March.
