With Netflix gearing up for Stranger Things Season 2, viewers of the show know that Stranger Things Season 1 left a few mysteries unsolved.
The 1980s town of Hawkins, Indiana experienced more than its fair share of paranormal activity. But some moments from last season were either confusing or left the door open for more intrigue.
Check out a few fun questions that we hope will be answered in the upcoming chapter of the series.
Does Anybody Care About Barb?
Why is no one from Barb’s family looking for her? We last see Nancy’s best friend in the Upside-Down, with a slug emanating from her mouth. It appears that Barb is dead, but who knows? Her body has not been returned, and her mother doesn’t seem the least bit concerned. Maybe Barb needs a mom like Joyce on her side.
What’s Up With Will?
In the last episode of the first season, Will has a sort of short-circuit where he travels back to the Upside-Down, while simultaneously being in his home’s bathroom. The events of last season seem to have changed him, but what exactly happened? Is he still in danger somehow? Can he open portals? Hopefully, Season 2 lets us know.
What About Dustin, Mike and Lucus?
The three amigos spent most of their time searching for the missing Will. Now that Will has returned, the dynamic between the friends is sure to change some. Are they going to keep the Upside-Down a secret, or are they going to go searching for more answers? They seem fine, but after almost dying a few times, the boys have to be experiencing some type of PTSD. Surely the paranormal is not done messing with these bike-riding pals.
Remember the Christmas Lights
When Joyce strung up Christmas lights all around her house, everyone thought she had officially gone cookoo. But, the plan worked. When other forms of communication with Will quickly burst into flames, the Christmas lights stayed true. Joyce eventually took them down, but one wonders if Mike will use the trick in a quest to contact Eleven on the other side.
Will There Be New “Bad Men”?
The demogorgon and Eleven virtually wiped out all of the “Bad Men,” but will there be more to take their place? The government seemed to take a lot of precautions to protect their investment and keep their secrets. Clearly, they couldn’t just leave the town alone. Especially now that a portal to another dimension is left wide open.
Will The Team Return to the Upside-Down?
From last season, it appears that the cold and dark alternate dimension which housed the demonic creature was an exact copy of the exisiting town of Hawkins. From that logic, one could conclude that the Upside-Down extends to the entire planet. Will the kids find themselves travelling outside of Hawkins and still being transported to terrible place? With Will’s new powers, who knows?
Is Eleven’s Mother Terry Ives?
We are introduced to the unresponsive Terry back in Chapter 3. Terry’s sister explains that Terry underwent experimental drugs while she was pregnant, but she miscarried. It is believed that Dr. Brenner actually took Terry’s baby, Jane, for his own use. Whether Jane survived is anyone’s guess, but there’s a good chance that Jane is actually Eleven, trying to get back to her family.
Are There More Monsters?
Eleven vanquished the demogorgan will all her powers while trying to save her friends. But, was the demogorgan alone? Are there even more scarier creatures lurking in the dark? The monster exploded, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone for good.
Will Hopper Get Some Help In Town?
This determined Chief of Police seems to be the only semi-competent authority figure in town. Jim Hopper was last seen getting picked up in a black car, being taken to an undisclosed location. Does Hopper have some new job duties, curtesy of the government? With all the “Bad Men” gone, maybe Hopper will serve as a bridge between the government and the town.
Did Brenner Survive?
The good doctor was responsible for a lot of pain. He essentially tortured Eleven, all in the name of “Science.” Dr. Brenner was last seen being attacked by the demogorgan, but there is no indication of whether he survived. Maybe the paranormal activity chaser will pop up in the future to offer insight into the complexities of the Upside-Down.
Will Nancy and Jonathan Get A Chance?
There is clearly some chemistry between Nancy and Jonathan, but Nancy decided to continue her relationship with Steve. Steve redeemed himself at the end of the season, and the three ended off as friends. But, these are high-school teenagers. Hormones and angst will eventually take over, and this friendly trio may become a love triangle.
Will Joyce Return To Normal?
Joyce Byers is the best mom EVER! She never backed down in trying to find her son, even when she was presented with a fake corpse of his body. Joyce spent all her energy into searching for will, but what happens now that she has him back? Joyce has got to be coming off a high, with a crash not far behind. She’ll have to deal with a clearly traumatized Will, while attempting to rebuild her life (and hopefully her home).
Where Is Eleven?
Eleven vanished, but where did she go? El knew about the Upside-Down because she’d been there before. Did she go back to the dark dimension, or is she trapped somewhere else? Brenner left her some Eggos; maybe she go them. Mike, for one, will be searching for his beloved Eleven. Hopefully the gang finds her safe and sound, but with this show, that’s unlikely.
