Apple TV has dropped a new teaser for its upcoming drama about the perils of female friendship, Imperfect Women.
This first look feels less about explaining the mystery and more about telling us why this series is quietly near the top of the “this could get messy fast” list.
The teaser leans into mood over answers, flashing fractured friendships, simmering resentment, and that unmistakable sense that everyone involved knows more than they’re saying.
It is pretty much exactly what you want from a psychological thriller built around secrets and long-buried choices.
The series stars and is executive-produced by Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington, which alone suggests this won’t be a polite, surface-level exploration of friendship gone wrong.
Moss has built a career playing women under pressure who refuse to stay quiet. Being loud has become her signature.
After her tour de force on The Handmaid’s Tale, Imperfect Women gives her something different to chew on.
Washington, who starred in Scandal, a series that helped define the genre as it is now, knows exactly how to weaponize composure, charm, and buried rage.
Pairing them in a story about loyalty, guilt, and betrayal feels less like stunt casting and more like a deliberate choice to make things emotionally uncomfortable.
Kate Mara has always been especially good at playing women who seem open and vulnerable on the surface but are quietly holding something back.
There’s a fragility to her screen presence, and the teaser makes it clear that her character’s shadow hangs over everything.
They’re joined by Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, and Leslie Odom Jr., rounding out a cast that suggests no one is here just to smile politely in the background.
Based on Araminta Hall’s novel, Imperfect Women centers on a crime that shatters a decades-long friendship between three women, peeling back layers of love, resentment, compromise, and self-deception as the investigation unfolds.
The teaser doesn’t spell out the crime or who did what to whom, but it doesn’t really need to.
The real hook is watching relationships crack under the weight of truth, and watching characters realize that being deeply known doesn’t always mean being fully understood.
Created and showrun by Annie Weisman, whose past work thrives on emotional messiness and moral gray areas, the series looks poised to live in that uncomfortable space where no one is purely innocent and no choice comes without consequences.
The eight-episode limited series premieres globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, with two episodes and a weekly rollout through April 29.
