Alan: Even if I could, I wouldn't.
Jo: Why not?
Alan: Do you have a full understanding of how she was able to get Emily out of her head?
Jo: She did it herself.
Alan: Which means she rewrote her own code.
Alan: Well, it's a fatal exception. It's not like we'd blow up anything. It's a total reset. No memory of anything. Fresh off the factory floor.
Jo: Everything that she is would be gone. Right? Wouldn't that be like killing her?
Alan: Uh, in a way, but better her than us.
Kindred: It's a thing she cares about.
Jo: And you abandoned her for what? Money. Is that what you care about?
Emily: She's not doing what she's supposed to do.
Alan: Which is what?
Emily: Love me.
Alan: You're nuts.
Benny: I met Piper.
Jo: Yeah.
Benny: Before, I thought you must have been crazy to be fooled. But she's pretty incredible.
Jo: Yeah, she's okay.
Benny: Look at what he's willing to do. It's not worth it. Walk away.
Jo: No. Even if we stop, he won't. The only way this ends is if we bring him down.
Abby: Jo, you know I am legally obligated to report gunshot wounds to the authorities.
Jo: Great news. I am the authorities.
Jo: Do you want to know who you are?
Piper: Sometimes I think I don't.

Richard Kindred: You found something dangerous, and you think you understand it.
Jo: So help me understand. How much of her is programming, and how much is real?
Richard Kindred: Real? Well, that's the trillion-dollar question, isn't it?

Emily
Jo: Emily, listen, I need to know who is sleeping in my house. What was she made for?
Emily: I don't know. I just worked on a tiny piece of her code.
Jo: Her code? She has been examined by a doctor. She has had blood drawn. She loves Rice Krispy treats. How is that code?
Emily: That's the bio side. I don't know how it all works.
Jo: I mean, is she real?
Emily: What is real?
Benny: Is she a human body with a synthetic AI?
Emily: No. Synthetic everything.
Benny: Incredible.
Jo: Does she know what she is?
Emily: No. That would create a fatal exception error. Telling an AI it's an AI effectively destroys the program.
