Law & Order: SVU
Thursdays 9:00 PM on NBCLaw & Order: SVU Quotes
Benson: How's Zoey holding up?
Kat: Not great. She's worried a jury will judge her for being a cam girl.
Fin: She's right and they will.
Kat: It's bad enough Gabe is representing herself, but now he gets to go to her apartment?
Carisi: Under a new law passed last January, the defense is allowed to investigate the scene of the crime.
Kat: Zoey is freaked out. She wants to be there.
Carisi: That's not a good idea, but that's her perogative.
Kat: Isn't there anything you can do?
Carisi: You mean change state law in the next hour? No, I can't.
Kat: Aren't you supposed to protect the victim?
Carisi: Actually, my job is to uphold the law.
Carisi: I gave this guy a better deal than he deserved. I don't know what he wants.
Benson: I do. He wants her.
Zoey: Wait a second. About six months ago I was really upset. My father didn't remember my name. Gabe said he knew a lot of lawyers who did elder care.
Fin: And he recommended this place?
Zoey: Yeah. Oh my God. I did this. I let a crazy man into my life, into my father's life.
I don't care how deluded he is. That's not a defense.
Benson
Zoey: Someone recorded that? They're not supposed to.
Benson: They were concerned that you didn't want that.
Zoey: I didn't. I was raped. But I'm a cam girl. I thought if I went to the police, they would laugh at me.
Sugarfab owner: As I told you on the phone, the girls expect us to protect their anonymity.
Carisi: Well, we're trying to protect her. Here's a subpoena for Kendra Dream's information.
Owner: You really think one of our subscribers did this?
Benson: How else would they know when her act was going to go live?
Owner: Oh dear. If this is true, it really is a dark day at Sugarfab.
Benson: The owner of the site says the girls' anonymity is sacrosanct.
Carisi: Next time you need a warrant, just call me.
Benson: Oh, we miss you. And he also said he'd only talk to the guy who went to lawyer school.
Larry: Kendra never did a scene with anyone else before and the way she was crying at the end, I'd never seen her like that.
Fin: Why did you record it?
Larry: Well, I figured if it was an assault it would be good to have evidence. Kendra and I are really close.
Kat: Hmm: So you know her real name, her address, her phone number?
Larry: It's not like that. She's a cam girl. I do know she's in New York because during the pandemic one night, she applauded for the medical workers.
Fin: You ever try to find out where she lives, Larry?
Larry: I'm not a creep! Look, something bad happened to her. I tried to reach out to her last night. She took her room down.
Zoey: He's in a good mood today. Thank you, James.
James: Oh, by the way, front office wants to see you about your father's bill.
Zoey: I'm still waiting on Medicaid..
James: Longest six months ever, huh? Nice jeans, by the way. You look good.
Carisi: If I go any lower, I'm saying it's okay for civilians to take the law into their own hands. Rafael, when you were an ADA -
Barba: I'd have held the line at Man 2.
Carisi: But -
Barba: When I was an ADA, the NYPD and the ADA's office commanded a modicum of respect.
I consider myself a nice guy. But I'm not always going to be nice in here. Sometimes I'm going to be loud, angry, as I cross examine witnesses from the VA and NYPD that failed to do their jobs. Anyone have a problem with that?
