The episode begins with Billy and Joanna arguing over working the mine case or preparing for Joanna's defense.

Taylor is terrified when she gets a rose from Wes.

Stevie is getting annoyed with how much work they're putting into this case, and that Joanna hasn't helped.

Taylor received a complaint from Terry, Kip's uncle. Owen goes to confront him. It's obvious he doesn't care about the teen but wants to taunt Owen.

Billy is frustrated that Joanna wants to work on the mining case instead of preparing her defense for the disciplinary hearing.

Mayor Freeman is panicking because if there is no gold, then the mine is useless. Joanna and Billy need new samples to prove fraud. Billy asks Larry, the union president, to help.

Luna, Stevie, and Dee approach the security guard. After threatening him, Luna realizes he doesn't work for the mine and is useless. She needs a new plan.

Taylor finds a trapped girl in Wes's place of hiding. Wes and Taylor struggle. She arrests him.

Stevie leaves Millwood, saying Luna all her time into this case but none into their relationship.

Owen comes home with adoption papers. Kip doesn't seem impressed.

Joanna asks Elise if she is willing to re-sign the lawyer’s opinion letter saying the Oro Mine deal is sound and should proceed. Tillman says that Elise will sign the opinion letter but she looks hesitant.

Joanna tells Elise she has an ethical duty to do the right thing. Millwood is saved. Joanna and Elise make peace.

Joanna comforts Luna after she loses the case and Stevie leaves. She says she was inspired by her younger sister.

Joanna surprises everyone by resigning.
