It's a race to save Detective Kate Beckett when Jerry Tyson and Dr. Kelly Niemann abduct her off the street leaving Rick Castle at his wits end to find her. Castle goes so far as to assult Michael Boudreaux who believes to be Jerry Tyson but when he pulls a gun on the man, the police come in to stop him. Later, Rick gets a phone call from Tyson, taunting him. Why just kill Castle when he can take Beckett and watch Castle die piece by piece over and over again. Beckett is simply a tool to torture Castle with and exact his revenge.

Even with assault charges pending against Castle, Capt Gates still has his back and lets him continue on with the investigation. But when the clues lead everyone to an abandoned warehouse with a woman tied up inside, SWAT storms the door, only to have Castle and the rest of the team watch her be shot and killed. Was that Kate Beckett? Were Jerry Tyson or Dr. Kelly Niemann inside as well? Will Rick Castle and the team at the 12th ever be rid of 3XK?
