Recap

It's Violet's first shift as PIC, and she still doesn't know who her partner will be.

Ritter has a new guy in his life, and he'll bring Ritter's wallet by the firehouse later.

Chief Robinson hasn't reached out to Boden about Violet's new partner, either. She mentions to him that she thinks Robinson has it out for her, but Boden (inexplicably) finds that hard to imagine. He reminds her she's the PIC and calls the shots for 61.

Mouch is eager to take a new training course. Stella thinks it's a great idea.

Jared Lennox arrives. He's new to the city from Glenview, a suburb. Lennox hasn't even gotten the tour before he's called into action.

They arrive at a raging house fire, and everyone springs into action. When it begins raining money from the burning ceiling, you know there's more to the story!

They find and rescue a woman inside. Lennox challenges Violet's first order, which doesn't bode well for their working relationship.

When Truck stops at the grocery store, they come out to a parking ticket for parking in a fire lane next to a fire hydrant.

On the scene, Severide and Boden are accused of stealing money from two dorks who seem like they would actually do that.

Severide texted Van Meter and sent a few pics before wondering out loud how much of that money the dorks took will actually make it to the station.

Mouch is up in arms about the ticket, and when Herrmann says to just ignore the ticket, Mouch won't stand for that.

Ritter says the money in the ceiling was actually under the floorboards of an upstairs bedroom, which seems a little sus. Wjhy more sus than in the ceiling?

As they sit around and laugh about cops, a strange look comes over Ritter's face.

The woman's granddaughter comes by the firehouse to ask what started the fire. She also isn't here about the fire. She needs all the money back, or she's dead. She was hiding the money for drug dealers, and they said if she loses even a dollar of it, they'd kill her.

Kelly offers to call the police to see what he can do, and he won't share her name until she's good with it.

Violet talks to Stella about Lennox challenging orders. Stella guesses that part of the reason Lennox didn't have a problem wiht Danny was that he was a man. But we don't know if it wasn't Dani.

Stella shares a story where she felt similarly, needing to drink it out that she let the man get the better of her. She had a next-level hangover. She also learned to ditch the word sorry. Stella says to bring that Violet vibe full force.

Mouch finds a Chicago Municipal Codes book and asks Cruz to read a passage. Cruz is like, if you're going to read it like that in the hearing...

Cruz reads further than Mouch did and discovers that Mouch was wrong.

Severide needs to convince Maya to take a deal that will keep her safe from the drug dealers. She looks very odd when she leaves the house, and a truck pulls up alongside Kelly's, someone pulls a gun and begins shooting.

Maya acts stunned. She's barely even concerned. They get back to the firehouse.

Mouch's appeal was denied. He begins a diatribe about the denigration of society and common sense. He won't rest until their right to park in the fire lane is the law of the land.

Ritter's new friend returns his wallet after rifling through it. Red flag, he didn't lie about his age. But red flag, his privacy was invaded. When Ritter turns to walk back to the house, he's got that weird look again, and there's an odd exchange with a fellow walking by.

Chief Robinson is waiting for Boden. He doesn't appreciate that he didn't receive Lennox's background. Robinson assures him that she vetted him well. Her intention is to put the top medics in the field, which is why she chose Lennox. Somehow, I don't believe her.

Cruz asks how Maya got caught up with GK13. It's because of her brother, who got caught and is in Cook County jail. She's worried that she got her grandma in trouble with the gang now too.

Apparently, there is another $60k still in the house.

Ambo 61 is called to a house where a woman's husband cannot breathe. There is something in his throat that freaks them out. Commercial. Boo.

OMG. It's a bug. A friggin' huge spider. The guy is having an allergic reaction to the bite. Lennox had the nerve to say, You're the new PIC, so I'm on it, which scares the hell out of the wife.

Violet's look could kill.

A guy in the firehouse asks if that's Ritter's new boyfriend. Why don't I know this guy? Ritter lies.

The gang members are in the house, and Severide says that the money all burned. There's nothing left. When others pull up outside, they meander out the back door.

Those dorks at the Chicago PD are embarrassing and clearly not good cops. Where the hell is Voight?

Violet tries to get through to Lennox, but he's a stubborn guy.

In the bathroom, Lennox asks Carver what's up with 51. He says Chief Robinson warned him about 51, and Lennox is like, man, one guy is trying to change the city's parking code and Violet asks like her way is the only way when she's not great shake herself.

Carver tells him how lucky he is, and Lennox says he can't do anything right and leaves.

Boden takes a call. It's kind of dramatic. Thanks for the heads up. Send those over here right away he says, and then slams the phone several times on the desk.

Severide sends Maya from her grandma's room to talk with grandma. She knew about the money. Teenagers think they're so sneaky, but a grandma knows. He says hiding money in the floorboards isn't exactly like taking a swig of whiskey.

Mouch is meeting with someone at the Chicago Codes department. She thought he was a lawyer, and smiles when she learn she is not.

A truck is not a fire engine, so the ticket is null and void for incorrect information.

Stella called in a favor to get Mouch into the tech rescue course. It means a lot to him, and it's great for Truck, too.

Severide invites the dorks to Molly's and tells them that the money is all gone. Yet, Maya's brother made bond and the family disappeared.

Violet has had a complaint filed against her, and it seems the whole firehouse is in jeopardy.

Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 7 Quotes

Mouch: The fire lane is literally reserved for us.
Carver: Damn. A hundred bucks.
Tony: Should have got the flank steak.

Violet: Lennox, you know I'm the PIC, right?
Lennox: Of course.
Violet: Because you seemed confused about it on the scene.
Lennox: I wasn't confused. I was just trying to help out with what was going on and everything.
Violet: There's no time to debate treatment options when lives are on the line. I give an order, and you do it.
Lennox: I didn't mean offense. My old firehouse, the PIC and I worked differently. Danny was cool with input
Violet: I'm sorry the bells went off before we had a chance to talk procedure. But this is how it works here.
