Maggie asks Peter about notarizing her divorce papers. Meanwhile, a woman brings an old man she's neer seen before into the hospital. He keeps saying "Help Betty."

Sharon asks Daniel about Bert. He says Bert forgot to call him back, but he's not worried. Sharon tells Charles about Bert's recent hospital visit but says that Bert hates seeing doctors. However, he will be here today for a follwup on his knee. Charles says he will se ehim.

A kid with a heart rate of 140 says he feels fine. She finds tenderness in his abdomen and orders a CT.

A woman is brought in. She had a miscarriage two weeks ago and is now in shock. The rural clinic didn't have the capability to take care of her. Maggie calls Hannah over. Hannah prescribes antibiotics immediately.

Hannah tells someone that the patient had been caryring fetail remains for two weeks.

The John Doe wakes up. He says his name is Jimmy and says Betty again. He says she is his sister. She is home and is sick. They need Dr. Sorensen. He insists he works here.

Ripley chcks in with Charles about this guy. Charles says to send him the chart.

Marcel shows up to consult. The CT showed possible appendicitis. He wants to remove the appendix but no one is happy beause they aren't sure. Zola agrees with him. Alex's parents say okay.

Dr. Johnsons decides to stick around to give Eric moral support. Hannah says they should induce rather than a D&E. Eric explaines that the doctors were afraid to do to the D&E because they could be arrested for performing an abortion. They wouldn't do anything so he finally came here.

Marcel starts the procedure with Tanaka-Reid. He sees something unusual and says he wants it frozen for a test.

Charles says there is cognitive impairment on the John Doe but he isn't sure why. The childlike affect is unusual. There may be an intellectual deficit. The nurse says she called the number and got no m essage. Charles suggests they do a reverse trace on the phone number

Archer is given a new patient who says need...help. Sean shows up and says the patient lives at the rehab center where he works.  Damon says he can't catch his breath.  He has pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) They need a cardiology consult. Sean stands there watching nervously. Archer gets permission to talk to Sean and says that Damon ahs heart failure despite his youth. Archer says it may be drug use. Sean says if anyone can help it's Archer.

Marcel says the pathology report showed cancer of the appendix but they got it all. They can have a followup later if they want but it shouldn't be necessary.

Bert doesn't want to get a physical but Sharon convinces him.

Damon can't breathe. His heart failure is getting worse. Archer puts him on a ventilator.

Sharon asks Archer to give Bert a quick physical.

 Nancy tells Charles and Ripley that Dr. Sorensen died 50 years ago. Also CPD traced the phone number and got an address.

Bert is being uncooperative. Charles comes in and takes over. He talks to Bert about betting on a ball game.. He gives him a math problem that Bert messes up. He asks Bert to come out to lunch on Friday.

Alex is nonresponsive and isn't coming out of the anesthesia but Zola says it's fine. Suddenly he starts crashing. He has an allergic reaction to the meds Zola has just given him. The parents freak out. He's all right for the moment. The mother wants to know why this happened.

Maggie calls Asher into the room. The patient is bleeding and now they have to operate after all.

Charles asks Bert to stick around and says he's looking forward to lunch on Friday. Bert is confused.

Asher begins the procedure. The patient begins hemmoraging.

Dr. Johnson says that Eric is not doing well. He asks Maggie if she has kids. She says that she and her ex tried to adopt but it didn't work out. Johnson says no. He married young before he was deployed and when he came back he and his wife agreed to separate. 

Nancy got Jimmy's CT back. It doesn't look like Alzheimers. But there is scarring in the frontal area. Traumatic brain injury? Ripley says he read about this in medical school.

Daniel thinks they could be looking at some issues. Sharon says convincing Bert will not be easy. Charles says they can tell him together.

Zola thinks the hospital should pull the med she used. There have been similar reactions here. 1 out of 200 -- ten times what the manufacturer claims. Marcel says that is not a clinical study and he has never had a problem with this medication before. He says he'll bring it up at a meeting and he wants an adverse drug reaction report.

Ripley is watching a video about a type of brain surgery.

Ripley brings the CT scan to Charles, who is busy looking upset. Charles realizes this guy had a lobotomy. Those haven't been done in 60 years. He was probably a kid. It was probably because he was a discipline problem.

Dr, Collins, the head of the program, comes to check on Damon. She also has hospital privileges. She asks for his chart. She wants to stay and observe. She wants to sit with Damon. She says that Sean is a real godsend. Sean goes in with her.

Kaitlin wakes up and Hannah says they saved her uterus. Kaitlin starts crying. She doesn't want to get pregnant again. The people in the rural center made her feel she didn't matter. Eric wants to move to Chicago. How could he go back there? He can't see her suffer again and be afraid of a problem with the baby.

Asher mentions that it's nice to know there are good guys in the world just as Johnson comes down the hall.

Marcel says the board won't pull the drug but instead will talk to the FDA. Zola wants to talk to them herself. Marcel says no. This isn't how things work. She storms off.

Ripley comes to see Jimmy who asks about Betty. CPD is here. They tell Ripley says they found a dead woman at the address. They havev confirmed the woman is Betty.  She took care of him. Ripley tells Nancy to call a social worker.

Sharon takes Bert to her office. He says it's so nice. Daniel comes in. Bert insists there is no issue and doesn't want to make an appointment. He says this is a setup. He says she is trying to put him away so they get his pension. He calls them crooks and says he's not friend with Daniel anymore and he doesn't want Sharon to be his power of attorney.

Alex's parents are grateful to Zola for her help. They leave and Zola seems upset.

Damon is coding. Sean watches as they try to restart his heart but they fail. Sean says no, no... Archer calls the time of death.

Jimmy is upset and wants Betty. Ripley says Betty can't be there but she would want him to be happy. He wants Betty. Ripley is sorry. He gives him a photo. Jimmy says he loves Betty. Ripley promises to come see him. Jimmy says he was cold and now he's warm. The social worker introduces herself to Jimmy.

Ripley is upset. He can't stop wondering what Jimmy's life might have been like if things had been different. Charles asks if Ripley has been in touch with his mom. Ripley says she's in and out of rehab and jail. Charles says he is sorry if he was yet another person who made Ripley feel abandoned. Ripley nods.

Maggie looks at the divorce papers and takes off the ring. Zola and Hannah are sorry.

Sean asks why Damon died. They won't know til after the autopsy but it's possible it was drug related. Archer is sorry he couldn't save Damon. Sean leaves. Collins says in her world there is a lot of loss. She will talk to Sean.

Bert tells Sharon he will get tested just to get her off his back.

Asher finds Ripley in the on-call room. He is pulling another Shift. They both had a rough day.
