Rossi and Krystall are celebrating their wedding anniversary in Rossi's office. He promises it will be the last time they celebrate there. She counters by saying his mouth is writing a check that his ass can't keep because he just accepted a promotion.

She always wanted him to retire, but when she realized how few people can do what he does, she reconsidered. He didn't need to pretend to be anybody else for her. They love each other.

Present

Although we can see Rossi, we are to believe that he's in the pitch dark as he feels his way around the container. He finds a cord and an outlet and has lights. There is an oxygen meter on the table. He's got just over 84 percent remaining.

There is also a bomb rigged to a propane tank.

JJ and Luke are briefing a team, which includes local law enforcement and Will. They need to take Voit alive to get Rossi back alive.

Penelope is flustered when she can't trace the link. Will wonders what Voit wouldn't expect, which is a good theory.

The attorney general is making demands again about something she doesn't understand. Prentiss knows that they've got to leave room for negotiation. Rossi in exchange for the safety of his family. The AG wants their faces plastered all over. Rebecca comes up with a compromise that the AG accepts.

Burney, CA

The Voit family arrives at a home of some sort. His daughter tries contacting her school, but she can't. She has a paper due. Elias smashes her phone on the ground. She's scared. Voit is a jerk.

Voit has a great connection to view Rossi somehow. He's watching Rossi look through bins and whatnot to who knows what? When Rossi looks at the camera, Voit starts streaming, interrupting the audio to demand to speak with Bailey.

Prentiss knows that Voit wants to exploit Bailey's mistakes, which is unsettling, but he gets on the phone. Prentiss and Tara keep pressing mute to give Bailey direction for the conversation. Bailey does as asked. He needs to let go of the family or else he'll end up killing them.

But Bailey got under Voit's skin, and Voit hung up after demanding Bailey rescind the BOLO.

The team gets to work analyzing Rossi's side of the video. It's raining and Rossi can hear it, so that's something.

Bailey tells the AG and Rebecca that Voit knows about Goldstar. The safest way to keep the matter contained is to kill Voit and everyone else. The AG is setting up Rebecca to fall on the AG's sword should it become necessary.

Garcia gets a call. Tyler's going into surgery. She can't keep going. She's falling apart, but Luke keeps her together.

Voit opens a case that includes passports and cash. He calls it their witness protection program. Sydney worries whether they're safe where they are, and Elias assures her they are.

Rossi has a giant syringe and a plan to debilitate the bomb.

Sydney talks to the kids. His eldest thinks it's nuts that Sydney kicked him out to get his shit together and now she's cool with whatever this is. it's food for thoughts for Sydney.

She sees Elias outside, a strange look coming over her face. Then she kicks another case under the bed. It holds all of Elias's treasures, including Moose's collar.

Voit links to Rossi, who has freed the contraption from the gas tank. Rossi taunts him that he'll never get away from Lee Duval. Then Rossi severs the connection and begins making his own bomb of sorts. He's down to 68 percent oxygen.

Oh, Rossi is going to try blowing the door. Thankfully, he's got a lovely metal table to use as a shield. The bomb blew, but it's hard to tell if anything was dislodged. Doesn't look like it. Uh oh. Now there is dirt falling into the hall.

Prentiss notices Rebecca and Bailey exchange a glance. She knows immediately that something is going on. Rebecca says it's politics, but Goldstar is much more than that.

Things are not going well for Rossi, and his oxygen is down to 32 percent when Krystall shows up. Is he really going to give that jagoff the satisfaction? Rossi says he isn't afraid anymore, and he's ready to join her. Krystall is like WTF? He's not a guy who gives up like that.

They have found a house that is connected to Elias and actually is his first instance of being Elias. Bailey says he needs to be there, throwing Prentiss a bit.

Sydney doesn't trust Elias and asks him about the dog collar. He screams at her, and she grabs the phone. He wrestles her for it, and the girls are like, daddy no! But there is movement outside. Our team is on the property. Bailey wants to just wander up without a perimeter or anything.

Sydney and the girls got corralled into the bedroom as Voit brandished a gun. They hope it's the police outside.

Prentiss and Tara say Bailey is outside. Voit greets him with "Goldstar indeed."

Luke, JJ, and Will are positioning themselves around the house. Will wonders if Elias and Bailey have a connection. Prentiss says it's more likely a secret. Our team decides to work on getting the family out.

Bailey says Voit knows why he's there personally and wonders how they fix this. They share a secret and Elias shoots him between the eyes. Sydney, meanwhile is working on getting the girls out of the window. Sydney doesn't get out. Will gets shot. Elias tries shooting her between the eyes, but he's out of bullets. The team descends on Elias, and he reads himself his own rights.

Tara approaches Rebecca. She wants to know what the hell Goldstar is. Funky music starts playing. Rebecca is caught. She says that there issues within the DOJ that she cannot and will not talk about.

JJ is talking to Sydney. She passed a murder board and is shocked. She calls herself stupid and knows JJ must think the same. She can barely speak. They'll prosecute him under Lee Duval, which will give her and the girls a chance at a real life. Not sure why that should matter if they're in WITSEC.

JJ asks Sydney to try getting Rossi's location. He tells her that he never wanted the three people he loved to see this part of him. Then he says that no matter if they're in WITSEC or not, everyone will know she was married to him and the girls are his and it will be a living hell.

She makes an appeal to him about Rossi's location. He looks at her with tears in his eyes, and we pan to Rossi counting down. Krystall asks him to dance. Rossi thinks he could have done something to save her from her destiny to save her from him. She says don't you think that giving up is just selfish?

She wants him to act like the leader he is. Never stop fighting. It's his time to live. Rossi is found.

Garcia is with Tyler when he wakes up. He asks if this is heaven. He was hoping that if he died, there would be a loophole. He could be with her and not live with the dumb thing he did. She says he tore her trust asunder. He apologizes. She knows why he did it. She knows that there is a parallel world where this is just a bump and they live happily ever after. But this is this world.

She likes them both too much to allow their flawed thing to continue and has done too much work on herself to want something flawed. She kisses him goodbye.

Rossi returns. We're down to minutes, and we don't know what Goldstar is.

Bailey's photo goes up on the wall of those killed in duty. They all toast to him, but does he deserve those toasts?

Penelope and Luke catch up. She bemoans herself falling into old paterns. When he knows Emily Dickinson, she's like, nice.

JJ liked it a lot better when she didn't have to see Will in the line of fire, but he thought they made a great team.

The AG told Emily that it was Emily's pressure on Bailey about his mistakes that got Bailey killed. Prentiss, Rossi, and Tara are talking Golstar as troops infiltrate a locaation where Elias is being escorted to an interview room. The door opens, and we see Elias. And that's it. The hell???

Garcia: Oh my God. What if they both die?
Luke: Penelope, I don't know. Maybe if we lean on each other, we'll have the strength to get through this together.
