Recap

Aaron is worried that Marie is heading into the hospital to fight COVID. Aaron will stay with the kids while she's at the hospital and quarantining.

Aaron isn't allowed into the prison because of COVID restrictions. He isn't hearing from Jamal when he texts. He reaches out to Masry to see if they get any information.

Masry makes some calls. And Henry and the new intern are investigating too. The prison won't let the inmates have phone calls in the past four days.

Walter, an inmate calls Aaron and tells him that Jamal was taken away.

Masry gets Aaron access to Jamal. He goes to see him in the prison. She and Aaron catch up.

Jamal comes out and talks to Aaron but it sounds like he's lying and keeping something. Before he leaves he tosses a note out for Aaron to see.

The note reads that someone named Xavier died from COVID.

Victor Hernandez the new warden comes out to see them and doesn't seem to buy into COVID or social distancing.

Xavier told his family he thought he had COVID-19  before he died of a heart attack. They talked to the medical doctor that said they're containing the cases they do have.

Aaron tells Masry about Marie and his adjustment period and time with a therapist.

Marie has a hard time trying to treat patients and be there for them.

Aaron and Masry have been waiting for three hours for things to get going. Hernandez tells him that Dez is there to represent the prison.

Dez tells them that they know Xavier's death doesn't look good but he's there to discuss prisoner releases to distract from the fact that Xavier died of COVID.

They want to release up to 132 men from the prison.

They agree to the deal if they can talk to the prison rep Hasan without monitoring.

Hasan tells him that he spent the last five days in the cell. They're down to one meal a day. They aren't getting yard time and they're double bunking.  Prisoners protested the first couple of days and now they aren't and everyone is quiet.

Hasan didn't hear about Xavier. They tell him that he had COVID.they tell Hasan that they're working to get some people out.

They're staying overnight to make sure that they get things done. He let's Marie know and she tells him that there's no way the prison only had 11 cases.

Hernandez keeps playing dumb like the co's and prisoners aren't saying anything.

They're figuring out that it's the guards that are keeping things under wraps. Some of them.

And Xavier was probably in solitary when he died because that's where they were putting people they think had symptoms.

They watch video footage of what happened on the solitary floor. Xavier had a heart attack. The guards see it vut debate what they should do. They call another guard the same one that was monitoring Jamal when he met them them. He goes in after a minute but Xavier is dead. He drags his body out.

Masry does the full walk through and sees sick inmates in solitary. Their terrible conditions.

The main CO Lassiter claims that it was something they agreed upon with their union. Lassiter feared they would lose their jobs.  If the numbers weren't low they would empty out the prison and it would lead to closing prisons down and they would lose their jobs.

They upped it up to 20% of total prison population if Aaron drops his collars for dollars suit against police and civil suit.

354 men will get released.

Hasan and Goodleaf are  going home. They release the men.  Aaron tells Marie they're working things out.

Masry: What do you think?
Aaron: I'm not sure I want to get over it.
Masry: I hear that.

Aaron: He's sleeping in the car. He's so scared.
Masry: They're understaffed. Guards are calling in sick and taking vacation time.
