Recap

Ronee sent Frasier some of Martin’s Christmas decorations, including the singing and dancing Santa and his Rudolph wreath. Freddy offers to put them up in the apartment, but Frasier says he’s feeling wistful, not insane.

But Frasier is sad as this is the first Christmas since his father died. Freddy suggests they invite some friends over for Christmas Eve. Frasier, of course, takes it too far, planning the Crane Christmas Soiree and announcing it at Mahoney’s in a top hat and reading from a scroll.

But it’s Eve’s first Christmas without Adam, and she’s opting out of the party.

David’s flight home is delayed, so he’s at Frasier’s for the party.

Frasier ordered one Christmas tree and 24 extra chairs for the party. What’s delivered is 24 Christmas trees and one chair. Frasier is freaking out, but Freddy and David clean things up so that it looks festive and less like a forest.

Frasier worries that, like in the Christmas Carol, there will be more mishaps ahead. Freddy promises to stick close to make sure his Dad doesn’t start “Frasiering” all over everything.

Alan and Olivia arrive at the party, as well as other people from the University and some of Freddy’s firefighter friends. Alan and David play a game where they try to make party guests say the names of Santa’s reindeer without them knowing it.

Freddy sneaks out of the party to bring Eve some cookies and finds her feeling down. He brings over one of the trees and a couple of their firefighter friends to cheer up Eve.

Back at his father’s, Freddy finds Frasier upset because he’s over-whipped the eggnog. Freddy runs back to Eve’s and finds the group turning a Hallmark movie into a drinking game.

Freddy runs back to Frasier’s party to find that Frasier accidentally hired an elementary school string quartet that doesn’t play well.

Then the Christmas goose arrives, but it’s still alive. Frasier calls for Freddy, who is in the hallway and on the phone. He’s trying to coordinate Frasier’s Christmas present.

Freddy’s co-worker, Smokey, gets dragged into Frasier’s party but later ducks over to Eve’s. When people hear there’s a better party across the hall, they all head over there.

After watching Hallmark Christmas movies, Moose and Olivia end up kissing.

Frasier comes out of the kitchen and realizes he’s all alone on Christmas. He hears the laughter across the hall and finds all of his guests at Eve’s. Freddy apologizes. He was trying to help Frasier and Eve and didn’t mean to steal Frasier’s party, but he has a great present arriving for his father soon.

Frasier is depressed. He doesn’t want a present. But then he finds Roz at his door. Freddy thought he could use an old friend. Rob and Frasier head to Mahoney’s to catch up over drinks. Roz tells him that Alice is spending Christmas with her boyfriend’s family. She’s been dating him for four years. Roz jokes about how many boyfriends she could have had in that time frame.

Frasier says that Freddy abandoned him, but then Roz learns that Freddy not only helped Frasier with his party, but was trying to help Eve because this was her first Christmas without Adam. Roz points out that not only didn’t Freddy abandon Frasier, but that this is Freddy’s first Christmas without his best friend and grandfather.

Frasier goes back to his home to find all of the guests back and seated at a long table set up by Freddy and David for dinner. He apologizes to Freddy and asks if he’s okay. Freddy assures his father that he is, and if he’s not, he knows he can talk to Frasier about it.

Frasier Season 1 Episode 10 Quotes

Frasier: I used to hate Dad’s Christmas decorations, and now even this old Rudolph wreath is making me sentimental.
Freddy: Aw. Want me to hang it up?
Frasier: I said I was wistful, not insane.

Ronee sent over a box of Dad’s old Christmas decorations. I know. Where’s a package thief when you need one?
