John realizes Halsey is lying to him and touches the artifact after it sends a signal to everyone.

He sees more memories, this time of him being kidnapped in his sleep, and Halsey injecting him with something.

She promises to tell him the truth when they return to Reach but he takes a run at her.

Cortana kicks in and takes over his suit.

When he wakes up, he senses something is different. The Covenant arrives after Mackee senses the signal.

They try to kill everyone, and John is told to get the artifact and leave the place.

However, he sees Kai in trouble and fights with a lot of monsters to get to her.

In the end, the Covenant takes the artifact, but Mackee is dropped from the ship, clearly to get control of the other one.

The final scene is John staring at her.
