When Kim says she’d leave Erie Harbor for the right job, Frank says he wishes he hadn’t been carrying around a ring in his pocket and storms off.

Kim tracks down Frank. She apologizes for not telling him about the interview and says she wouldn’t have taken the job. When she asks about the ring, Frank proposes, and she says yes.

Ethan’s parents are fighting over his custody. Ethan comes to the Lisko’s house, and they agree he can stay the night downstairs.

Izzy thinks Emma is mad at her or that Emma has a crush on Ethan, but it seems more likely that Emma is unhappy because every time she and Izzy have a conversation, Ethan pops up and inserts himself into the middle of it.

Hilde, Donny, and Spoon escape the house and make a run for it with the black box, but they have to leave their backpacks behind. They take the flight recorder to Frank and ask him to help them figure out what’s on it. He knows someone at the NTSB.

Spoon is being bullied by some older boys at school, so Spoon decides to dress differently to try and fly under the radar. But Hilde and Donny step in and begin dressing more flamboyantly to match Spoon.

All of Sylvester’s friends from the photo are dead except for Junior. All of them died from illnesses way too young. Matt is convinced there’s a story there and encourages Hilde to go after it. It turns out that Sylvester once worked for Strata Tech Industries.

The NTSB recovered part of the audio track from the old black box. It was Sam’s father, Hank’s plane. On the recording, Hank sees something and says Richie was right. He tries to fly back and take photos, but the plane runs out of fuel and crashes.

Hilde, Donny, and Spoon go to the archives and uncover Hank’s flight plan. He had the same flight path of the Saratoga mountains on three different trips. Sylvester helps Hlide chart the flight and where they think he crashed. On the map, it looks like a lake with an island in the middle of it.

Hilde gets Sheriff Trip Johnson to go to the Woodruff Mansion to search for the plane, but it’s no longer there, making Trip look like a fool in front of Rutherford.

Carl Kurtz, the head of security for Woodruff Mansion, is there, and Hilde confronts him. She asks what happened to their backpacks.

Back home, Hilde is shocked when she comes downstairs at night for a drink of milk and finds their backpacks sitting on the kitchen table.
