Adam Strange and Seg-El returns to the Fortress of Solitude to inform Val-El that they have discovered a sign of Brainiac on Krypton. Scared of what he sees, Val confirms that it is from Brainiac and through a scan, it is revealed that it is a shell for a device that contains a sentry.

Brainiac's sentry is a parasite that infects a host that Brainiac can use to control. Under his control, he can collect data from a planet through the host. Adam stresses that they need to kill it right away, despite Val's warning.

They open it, but to their surprise, the sentry has already escaped its shell. Someone on Krypton has already been infected and is now under the control of Brainiac.

Cut to three days ago where two junkers are out in the Kandor Outlands collecting potential technology. One of them, who finds the sentry, is related to Kem.

Seg, Adam, and Val try to figure out how to find the sentry as it is somewhere on Krypton. Seg realizes that if junkers have discovered it, they may have already sold it on the market. Adam is told to go to the market to locate it while Seg goes to see Lyta to see if any of the guilds have had it turned in.
