On Law & Order: SVU Season 19 Episode 19, Rollins gets involved with protecting a girl whose father may be abusing her, with disasterous consequences.

A girl who appears to be 14 or 15 runs away while a sermon is being conducted elsewhere in the home. She runs all the way to the LIRR and gets on the train, where she locks herself in the bathroom and refuses to come out or to speak. She grunts and lashes out at anyone who comes near her.

SVU is called in and Rollins makes a connection with the girl. She gets her to tell her that her name is Esther, but Esther will not reveal her last name, instead quoting Bible verses. Esther lets Rollins take her to the hospital, where the doctor says she is severely malnourished and has been raped.

Esther tells Rollins she was scared to go home but won't elaborate, instead reciting Bible verses when Rollins probes. Rollins tells Benson she thinks Esther was brainwashed. There is no way they can ID Esther as her DNA is not in any database and no one has reported her missing, but the DNA on the semen shows Esther had sex with a relative.

Rollins wants to re-interview Esther but Esther's father shows up. He says Esther is 27 years old and that her mother caught her laying with her brother. Rollins wants Esther removed from her father's care but Benson says there is no law that allows them to do that.

Rollins asks Benson for a mental health day so she can investigate on her own. She watches a creepy family outing. Later, she sees a little girl chained to a radiator like a dog in the Labotts house. She breaks in but Labott has a shotgun and chases her out.

The rest of the cops arrive and treat this as a hostage situation. There's a lot of shooting. Esther and several other of the children are killed and the Labotts arrested.

Later, Benson has bad news for Rollins: she fired the shot that killed Esther.
