Recap

Mahina thinks she sees someone inside while working an active fire scene.

But the firefighters have to pull back because the house is fully involved.

Kumu joins Rick as a volunteer answering phones at a veterans' help line.

T.C. tells Mahina he's thinking about expanding Island Hoppers, although that would require him selling his share of La Mariana.

But she's not listening because her mind is on the housefire where the man died.

The fire was arson and the house owner, Halia, is HPD's main suspect. But Mahina doesn't believe Halia set it.

T.C. asks Magnum to take on Halia's case. Halia explains to Thomas and Juliet how the dead man, her uncle Moku, had raised her.

They ran a contracting business and they were living in the house they were renovating, planning to flip it.

Halia suspects Brian, her controlling ex, may have started the fire.

While admitting to stalking Halia, Brian says he saw a car parked outside her house for an hour the last time he was there five days earlier.

T.C. and Mahina collect cigarette butts outside Halia's house, right where Brian said they would be.

T.C. tries to get Mahina to see that she's not responsible for Moku's death.

Kumu takes a call from a blocked number. The caller, D.J., took pills right before he called.

Kumu attempts to use techniques from her handbook but D.J. hangs up on her.

The DNA off the cigarette butts is a familial match to an inmate, Dominic Carson.

The only relative Higgins can find is Dominic's father, Henry, whose phone has been offline since the day of the fire.

They discover a break-in at a mortuary near where Henry's phone last pinged.

The mortuary director admits that a body about the same size as Moku had been stolen.

So they decide Moku's death may have been faked and he is missing instead.

The M.E. determines the body wasn't Moku. Katsumoto's theory is that Henry has Moku.

After Rick identifies an elevated train sound in the background of D.J.'s call, D.J. calls Kumu back.

Kumu tells D.J. her real name.

After Kumu hears bells in the background, Rick thinks D.J. is in Chicago.

Moku had done renovation work at the prison. Juliet's theory is that Henry is using Moku to help Dominic escape prison.

Three hours earlier, Dominic had stabbed another inmate so that he got thrown into isolation.

Moku is being forced to direct a team trying to break out Dominic.

To keep Moku alive, Thomas doesn't want to tell HPD about the possible escape.

Kumu reveals to D.J. that she found her father after he killed himself.

EMTs arrive at D.J.'s home just after he passes out and he's rushed to a hospital.

Higgins finds surveillance of Moku being forced into a rental car, which she tracks to an abandoned warehouse.

But Gordie informs them the prison break already happened.

Henry shoots Dominic's fellow robber Crosetti to free Moku then surrenders.

Henry and Crosetti were the other two members of the robbery crew who Dominic wouldn't give up. Dominic still hasn't been caught.

Kumu stops to visit her father's grave on the way to La Mariana.

Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 19 Quotes

T.C.: Hey, you OK?
Mahina: Doing what I do, I see a lot of awful things. But this one's really gotten to me.

Rick: Kumu, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you volunteering with us today. Seriously, you are a lifesaver.
Kumu: I would have started years ago. But I thought you had to be a vet to work here.
Rick: Nope. We can use all the help we can get.
