Abby and Neil have an awkward exchange at the beginning of the court session. Gurgs comes by to discuss it with Abby.

The case of Zack and Patty Ludlow begins. The defendants are covered in blue dye and Patty is pregnant. They plead guilty to criminal mischief in their gender reveal gone wrong. Patty’s drunk mother heckles Dan from the gallery.

After the case is dealt with the mother throws her drink on Dan. Gurgs is shocked.

Abby finds Gurgs in her chambers where Gurgs resigns by turning in her badge and sword.

Olivia comes in as Gurgs leaves to confront Abby about Neil’s crush. Abby admits it’s an issue but she’s trying to shut it down gently. Abby shows Olivia the toy train Rand sent her. Their first date was at a concert where a Train cover band called Tram played “Drops of Jupiter”.

Gurgs brings a box of lost and found items to Dan in hopes of finding something to replace his shirt and suit. Dan tells her he’s used to having things thrown at him. She swears it’ll never happen again on her watch.

Olivia and Abby come into the cafeteria to find Neil. Olivia urges Abby to be swift and direct. Abby starts with a parable but Neil is distracted by a woman he used to have a crush on in high school who has just walked in.

Gabrielle notices Neil and they catch up on each other’s lives. Olivia notices Gabrielle’s behavior bears some resemblance to Abby. When they meet, Gabrielle introduces herself as Gabby and the resemblance is clear.

Gabby’s at the courthouse finalizing her divorce.

In Abby’s chambers, she gives Gabby her extra copy of a mutually liked Julia Child cookbook. After Gabby leaves, Olivia pitches the idea of setting Gabby up with Neil.

In the cafeteria, Gurgs sets up a six-foot perimeter around Dan for protection while he’s eating a sandwich, swearing she’ll protect him from all dangers. After she taste-tests his sandwich for poison, he storms out of the cafeteria. She follows.

Abby’s with Olivia on her visit to the dentist’s when she discovers it’s Gabby’s office. Olivia couldn’t picture Neil asking Gabby out so she wants Abby to talk Gabby into asking Neil out.

Gurgs intercepts Dan as he tries to go to the mens’ room. She offers him an ankle-monitor as a peace offering. He’s had enough and asks her when this protection will end. She says when her debt to him is paid. Dan goes down to holding to find a perp to throw a drink at him Gurgs can protect him from.

While Gabby does Olivia’s dental check-up, Abby and her bond over their similarities. Gabby tells Abby about how she and her ex, Steve, grew apart. Olivia gets frustrated and lets Gabby know about Neil’s crush on her and that she needs to ask him out.

Dan gets his overly-pretentious perp set up to perform the scene so Gurgs can save him.

Abby and Olivia sit together in the cafeteria. Olivia’s extolling Gabby’s dentistry skills. Abby’s distracted by Gabby’s story about how she and Steve broke up.

They see Gabby and Neil through the window. Gabby asks Neil out but it looks like he turns her down.

Dan’s perp starts his scene but goes off script and doesn’t throw the drink at him.

Abby checks in on Neil and confronts him about his crush on her. She asks him if he falls for women with significant others so he has an excuse for the relationship not working out.

He admits he’s been self-sabotaging. He decides to ask Gabby out.

In the courtroom, Gurgs tries to get a tall suited man to step away from Dan. Dan introduces his new bodyguard whose job is to protect Dan from Gurgs. She’s sad but resigned.

Abby touches base with Neil about how his date with Gabby went. Neil’s so happy that he attempts to hug Dan but Gurgs throws herself in the way. Dan fires the bodyguard now that the debt’s been paid.

Olivia comes to crow about the success of foisting Neil onto Gabby and finds Abby looking sad. Abby expresses her concern that she and Rand will go the way of Gabby and Steve. Olivia doesn’t want to get involved but comforts Abby with the fact Rand is still Upstate so she has time to figure things out. Suddenly Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” is heard from outside. Abby peeks and realizes Rand is on the sidewalk, blasting the song on a bluetooth speaker.
