Long ago, Belle's mother was killed by ogres but Belle lost her memories of the event. In order to find them she travels to Arendelle where she befriends Anna and finds the rock trolls who give her a magic rock to retrieve the memory. Anna learns that the Snow Queen's name is Ingrid and she along with Helga were her mother's sisters who disappeared. Afterwards, all memory and mention of the girls was erased. Before Anna can get back to tell Elsa, the Snow Queen captures her. Belle could have saved Anna but chose to retrieve her fallen memory rock first which shatters anyway.

Back in Storybrooke, files are found that prove the Snow Queen has been following Emma since she was a baby because a scroll says Emma the savior will be her new sister. Rumple shares that the Snow Queen has a magic mirror spell, which has already terrorized Belle, may destroy the entire town, leaving only Elsa and Emma as the Snow Queen's new family.
