Jamie and the gang are arguing with Horrocks when someone comes running up. Claire is gone. The redcoats got her.

Jamie and the boys silently upon the castle and discover Claire is in the Commanders' office. They fight and kill their way inside. When Jamie appears at the window, Black Jack Randall laughs at him, asking if he can see his handiwork. Claire wants Jamie to shoot him and Randall puts a knife to her throat, preparing to commence with the rape while Jamie watches. The gun Jamie had misfired because he didn't take it loaded. He left Randall knocked out on the floor and they left, running into danger on they way out. He never thought to kill a helpless man, even one such as Randall.

They plunge into the water to escape.

Jamie wants an apology. If she had stayed put where he told her, she wouldn't have ever been in trouble. What ensues is a 20th century argument in the 18th century, right down to her calling him a fucking bastard and him calling her a foul mouthed bitch who cannot speak to him that way. They quickly come to their senses, and forgive each other for transgressions. That's what love is.

When they get back to the group, they're welcomed back, but nobody is listening to Claire. Jamie notices, but says nothing. It's because she doesn't understand what she nearly cost them. Jamie agrees and says she needs to.

Jamie tells her if it was one of the men who did what she did, he would be flogged or even killed. As such, she has to be punished. He prepares get her with the belt and she is totally freaked out. The whipping commences. The next morning she goes downstairs and takes a ribbing from the boys, but doesn't play along.

When they get back to Castle Leoch, there is a wedding celebration for them. Colum and his wife aren't all that pleased, it seems.

Laoghaire wonders why he went and married Claire. Jamie promises to tell her in some detail eventually, but later, since Colum has called for him.

Colum asks after Fort William. Jamie assures him the blame will fall solely on him. Colum then wants to know about the Jacobite money. Quite an argument ensues between Dougal and Colum when Dougal says he even assured Colum's bloodline. He storms out.

Colum is left with Jamie because nobody will now support him as his successor having married a Sassenach.

As Claire readies for bed, Jamie thinks it's time to have a little sex. She says think again.

On a stag hunt, the MacKenzies and Frasers start fighting.

Jamie suggests to Colum that he give Dougal back the gold to placate him. He knows how to be a Laird, and that's why he's the heir to the Laird and not Dougal.

Laoghaire finds Jamie and tries to talk him into wanting her. She has shown up with nothing under her dress. She wants him to be the only one who will ever lay with her, but he won't break his vow. She runs off crying.

Jamie goes back to Claire, wondering what he can do to mend their rift. He tells her that, perhaps for them things have to go a different way than that of his parents and those before them and on and on. He pledges never to raise his hand against her again. When she is quiet, he wonders if she no longer wants him. That's what she should want, but she doesn't. Now is when he tells her about her ring. It's fashioned out of the key to Lallybrach because he wants it to mean as much to her as it does to him. But she is his home now. They make love. While she is riding him, she takes his sword and holds it to his neck. If he ever touches her again she will take his heart out and eat it for dinner. He says she is his, now and forever.

Claire finds something under their bed and Jamie says it's meant to cause them ill will and he thinks it was from Laoghaire.
