Recap

At Jack and Evie's house, Evie and Ron discuss the plans for Jack's surprise party. Evie tells Ron she's gifting Jack a karaoke machine, and Ron expresses his enjoyment of karaoke.

Henry looks through the bathroom drawers at Evie and Jack's while getting ready. As he descends the staircase, Evie stresses that the catering staff should refrain from using the upstairs bathroom.

Henry and Roman convene in the kitchen for prep. Roman congratulates Henry on the divorce. Henry remarks he still has to pay alimony, hence why he is back at Party Down.

Henry slices limes; Kyle gives him some pointers. Kyle mentions an upcoming audition where the character works in a club, hence his desire to keep a foot in food service.

Ron enters. Sackson marvels at the house, in particular the magnificent upstairs bathroom. Ron reminds them of the policy that clients' private areas are off-limits.

Ron informs them that they have a new chef working with Party Down. Enter Lucy, the new chef, with custom cake bites. Sackson tries one and is surprised at the flavor; Lucy explains it is sheet cake filled with camembert.

Lucy insists that as a "birthday" cake, it should have a reminder of mortality. Ron throws them out and asks her to start over.

Ron pulls up Constance on his iPad so she can lead a meditation with the staff. Jack enters with a younger woman who is not Evie, making out, and the Party Down staff are stunned. The young woman, Tandy, notices them, and Jack asks who they are.

Ron covers up the iPad and realizes he can't say why they're here. Tandy figures out it's Jack's surprise party, to which she got an invite, but she assumed it was canceled. Henry tells Jack and Tandy that Evie's in the living room and the guests are arriving.

Jack says he'll go in the front and asks the catering staff to keep this incident quiet. Jack tells Tandy to hide and come in later.

Jack comes in through the front door, and everyone yells, "Surprise!" Jack acts surprised, and Evie kisses him.

Ron returns to the kitchen, noting how Jack looked surprised. He orders the staff to circulate. Sackson remains, cutting cucumbers, and Lucy enters. They realize Constance is still leading the meditation.

Sackson asks Constance for advice -- he wants to do something that will serve his interests, but it's against the rules.

Constance recounts when she disguised herself as a waitress to get an audition. Although she didn't initially get the part, she still was proud she chased her dream. Constance then took it a step further by kidnapping and planting drugs on the person who did get the part.

Constance then took the role in the film by stealing the woman's ID. However, Constance failed at the film as she roller-skated off a pier in the first take.

Sackson explains he wants to film a video in the fancy mirrored bathroom. When Constance realizes he is a content creator, not an actor, she advises him to stick to the rules and hangs up.

Lucy tells Sackson she has been fired from every job she's ever had and that a true artist is always breaking the rules.

Evie and a friend, Maggie, discuss how the party is going. Evie orders a drink from Henry at the bar, and Maggie mentions he looks like the "Are we having fun yet?" guy.

Evie realizes she met Henry the previous year, pre-pandemic, at Kyle's party, and she's surprised he's bartending. Henry explains his situation to her. They banter playfully.

Ron approaches, and Evie asks about the cake bites. Jack thanks Evie for the party, kissing her (while Ron and Henry look on awkwardly). Jack insists Evie sing some karaoke and pulls her away. Ron reminds Henry not to say anything.

Jack and Evie circulate. Kyle says hello, with a tray of hors d'oeuvres. Jack greets him pleasantly, saying it's a shame he got canceled, and they leave him. Kyle reminds him he was only semi-canceled.

Lydia arrives with a gift basket for Jack from Escapade, who is sick, but enjoyed working with him on Infinity Sticks. Jack and Evie take the basket and leave Lydia to chat with Kyle.

Lydia confides in Kyle that Escapade isn't really sick, but she's so moody. Lydia worries her daughter may fire her. She asks how Kyle is doing, and he mentions how much it sucks to be back at Party Down.

Ron shows Roman his new business cards. They are bigger than average, and they cost him $2000. Roman notices the bed in the van and asks Ron if he sleeps there. Ron says he takes power naps but doesn't live in there. Roman remarks he smells like someone who lives in a van.

Lucy prepares her camembert cake balls while Kyle observes. Kyle says he likes it, but Lucy insists he doesn't understand the art she is trying to express with her food creations.

Ron checks in on Henry at the bar. Ron asks Henry if he smells like someone who lives in a van. Ron explains that he had to do a lot to keep Party Down afloat, and got COVID four times, so he has no sense of smell. Henry smells him and admits that he does smell bad.

Ron sneaks upstairs and finds Sackson in the upstairs bathroom, filming a video. Ron orders him to get out. Ron immediately has a shower.

Tandy arrives through the front door. Kyle (who is with Lydia) greets her. Tandy takes a drink, then goes to greet Jack. Kyle tells Lydia that Tandy was fooling around with Jack earlier. Lydia says Tandy has been around forever.

Kyle mentions that child actors like Tandy tend to be messed up, which Lydia hasn't heard. Lydia is dubious that child actors end up that way, but Kyle insists. Lydia worries about Escapade.

Tandy runs into Ron coming out of the shower. She asks if he took a shower, but he denies it.

Henry drinks. Ron asks Henry if he still smells. Henry says he smells much better.

Evie and Maggie chat at the bar. Maggie mentions Jack might be planning to propose. Henry worries that they should say something, but Kyle insists they are rich celebrities and it doesn't matter to them.

Henry grabs a napkin, writes something on it, and then sneaks into Evie's office. He sees a poster for "A Far Cry." Henry leaves the napkin on Evei's desk. Evie comes in and catches him.

Henry tries to play innocent, saying he saw the poster and that he auditioned for it. Evie finds the napkin and realizes Jack's affair with Tandy. Henry wanted her to find out after the party, just because Ron hoped to do more business with Jack.

Jack and Ron chat about karaoke, and Ron suggests planning some parties. Jack smells Ron's shampoo and recognizes it as an exclusive Tom Ford one. Ron evades his suspicions.

Lydia chats to Tandy about being a child star. Lucy offers Tandy a cake bite. Tandy takes one, eats it, and has a revelation about herself -- that she's been a terrible person. Lucy is quietly triumphant.

Ron heads back to the van to get his own shampoo.

Tandy continues to unload on Lydia. Sackson overhears.

Ron has another shower with his own shampoo. Sackson walks in on him. After a moment, Ron allows him to make his video.

Jack sings karaoke. Maggie remarks that their relationship is like a fairy tale. Evie complains that if it feels like a fairy tale, it probably is too good to be true.

Henry asks what she's going to do. Evie says she will dump Jack after the party. Jack makes a toast to Evie, but Tandy interrupts, drunk, and apologizes to Evie for hooking up with Jack. She apologizes to Jack for using the upstairs bathroom.

In the upstairs bathroom, Sackson films himself doing a dance and nails it.

Tandy sings karaoke terribly.

Ron approaches Jack with some ideas, but Jack accuses him of having a shower in his upstairs bathroom.

Lydia approaches Ron, saying she needs to throw a party -- a prom -- to save Escapade from the child actor curse.

After the party, Evie sees Henry with a script. He tells her the school drama teacher died, and rather than hire a new one, they roped him into directing it.

Evie apologizes for not casting him in "A Far Cry." and gives him her number, saying she owes him a drink.
