Charlie is awake but not moving or talking. Dr. Lawrence Naday arrives to consult on Charlie's case but as he seems to do nothing but sing and play guitar for Charlie, Nurse Jackson begins to wonder about Naday's methods. Dr.McAndrews thinks he's a quack but puts up with him because he doesn't want to see his ex Dr. Erin Grace risk her job since she brought him to the hospital.  

Hunter gets a beautiful unexpected visitor and Kara's jealous. It's actually Ashley, Hunter's sister who plans to donate part of her liver to Hunter until he turns her down. Ashley asks Kara to change Hunter's mind but in the end Kara explains to Ashley that this is one of the few things Hunter feels he has control over and Hunter won't risk his sister's life. Hunter overhears Kara and later kisses her. 

Emma, Leo, Jordi, and Dash go out to get presents for Charlie that include a puppy and a stripper but none of it works out. Emma eats a crunchy cheese doodle in front of Leo but later freaks out over the orange dust on her fingers. Later at the hospital she refuses to eat and throws her food across the room. 

Dr. Naday explains to Nurse Jackson that the music was a way of bringing Charlie's family back together. That he needs to know he has something other than an tensions filled broken home to go back to. Slowly, the treatment seems to be working.
