Maddie Nears is in school and realizes she's dead. She has no idea what happened to her, beyond the fact that her blood was in the janitor's closet.

She goes to a group meeting for other dead people inside the school but she's struggling to compute the fact that she's gone from that world.

Charley takes Maddie under his wing, but she's struggling.

She watches Xavier in his car and finds herself recalling a day in which she caught him skipping class.

She rushes out of the school and he says he's charging his phone, so she leaves him, but when she goes back up the stairs, she sees him on his phone, so he lied to her.

In the present, the students hold a vigil for Maddie as she tries to exit the school. No matter what she does, she returns to the place she died.

Wally tells her he died in the 80s at a football game and that's why the stadium is named after him.

Xavier is found with Maddie's phone and is arrested. There's no explaining it, but there's nothing he can do.

Simon refuses to attend the vigil, telling the teacher that he knows who Maddie is and she's not a person to run away. He concedes that something happened to her.

Maddie's spirit watches over him but when he goes tot he window, he sees his friend and says "Maddie."
