Maddie: What is that?
Simon: That's the person who's been breaking into houses across town. It's who attacked Xavier tonight. I don't know... if this is real, Maddie. Maybe you're just some fսckеd up coping mechanism that I created to put off the pain... To put off the pain of losing you. But you're alive out there, and I lost my mind.
Maddie: No. Simon, this is real. This is me. Simon. No, Simon. Simon, I'm real.

Maddie: I'm trying open the door.
Wally: Maddie, the back hatch is stuck too. We can't move it.
Rhonda: Maddie, be careful! Please, you can't trust him!
Maddie: Trust who?

Why do you have Maddie's necklace? I know you told the cops that you came to school the day Maddie went missing, which I know is true. I saw your car. But you said you didn't see Maddie. I know that's a lie, because she was wearing this when she left study hall. Why'd come to school that day anyway? Maddie told me, she said that you had to go away in some program. Why come back?

Simon

Maddie: I know it's not what we thought we'd find, but... I had this when I went to look for her. And I didn't have it when I showed up here.
Simon: There could be a completely logical, non-murderous explanation for this.
Maddie: Get her here. I always know when she's lying. I know all her tells. If you can get her in a room with me... Or with us, you can talk to her, and we can figure out if... my mom... Okay.
Simon: Okay, I'll figure something out.
Maddie: Simon? Yesterday, what you said about whether or not us figuring it out means me moving on...
Simon: Don't worry about that right now.
Maddie: I was being selfish.
Simon: You're never selfish. Maddie, if it was her, are you sure you wanna know?

Simon: Where should I look?
Maddie: Try the dresser. She used to hide bottles in her closet. If she took that money, it'll be in one of her usual hiding places. She's gotten less and less creative over the years. When she's really desperate, she even uses my room.

Dawn: I'm really sorry I wasn't able to help you.
Maddie: Dawn, please. You don't need to apologize to me.
Dawn: But I really wanted to take you back.
Maddie: No, it's okay. If anything, you deserve an apology. And I'm sorry if anyone ever made you feel like a joke, 'cause you're not.

Charley: What's going on?
Maddie: I need to talk to my mother.
Charley: Why?
Maddie: I think she may have killed me.

Claire: I'm thirsty, my slushy's melting, and... I'm hearing you call your son a loser.
Xavier: Claire.
Claire: Last time I checked, a "loser" is an insecure bully who gets his kicks by intimidating people. For the record, your son doesn't fall under that definition. Can I have my slushie, please?
Xavier: Yeah.
Claire: Thanks. Now maybe you can take me home. My parents don't like for me to be out after dark. They don't think this town's a safe place anymore.

Simon: Don't bother, Nicole. We already know the truth.
Nicole: What truth? What are you talking about?
Simon: That boot print you found in the woods? Was that to give Maddie's mother hope or let yourself off the hook?
Nicole: I don't know what you're talking about.
Simon: You sent Anderson that video and blackmailed him. Didn't you? Why? Why'd you need the money?
Nicole: Simon, you're seriously having some kind of breakdown. You need meds.
Simon: Buying those Horror-Con tickets, helping Maddie's mom pass out missing flyers at homecoming, leaving the dance to "help" her, was that all about creating some kind of smokescreen? So what really happened? How did you get out of that boiler room alive, but Maddie didn't? What did you need the money for? Huh? So you could split town?
Nicole: No, you asshоlе. So I could be with you. And Maddie. I needed the money so I could move to Chicago and be near your frickin' college.
Simon: What? Why, the art schools you're applying to are in Chicago.
Nicole: Yeah, and I can't get into either one of them.
Simon: You don't know that.
Nicole: When I showed them my portfolio, both admissions counselors said there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell I was getting a scholarship. They basically said my portfolio sucked, and there's no fսcking way my parents are gonna pay for me to go to Chicago and hang out with my friends. We don't have that kind of money. Did you actually believe I could ever intentionally hurt Maddie? I mean, yeah, I stole the teacher's number, but I did that so I could keep us together, not tear us apart. But I screwed up, okay? I didn't know Maddie was the only one who had Mr. Anderson's number. How was I supposed to know that? I spent weeks thinking I was the reason she got hurt. You should've said something.
Simon: Why didn't you tell Maddie and I about that portfolio review?
Nicole: And give you more reasons to think I'm pathetic? No, thanks.
Simon: Nicole. Can I ask you something? Where's the money? If you turn it in to the police, they'll know Mr. South doesn't have it. We'll be closer to finding out what really happened to Maddie. Nicole, that money could help a man prove his innocence.

Wally: Tonight was nice. Do you want to go to the dance with me? As friends. You can totally say no, Maddie. I just... you know, it's your first time. I thought maybe I could... You're gonna be there anyway.
Maddie: Sure, Wally.
Wally: All right, that's... All right, that's, uh, cool. That's really cool. I will... I'll see you at the dance.

Simon: Did you want me to find something, Mr. South?
Mr. South: Simon, if I've got something to say, I say it.
Simon: But when I came by this morning, you were watching a video, and you hid it from me. And now we get sent this video, and I'm thinking it could be you.
Mr. South: Simon, I was hiding it because I didn't want you to get hurt. Ever since they found your friend's blood on the wall, all kinds of looky-loos been coming down here sightseeing. Who would have thought I'd be the number one stop on a haunted tour? I had to document everything for the school district. People wrote things on the wall that were... disrespectful. That was on me.
Simon: Don't blame yourself.

Sandra: Sorry to make you leave early.
Nicole: Oh, no. I don't mind. Pretty sure we were losing anyway.
Sandra: Do you think Maddie will forgive me and come home?
Nicole: I'd like to think we can be forgiven for anything if our heart's in the right place.
