Recap

Sharon gets home to find her mom in her apartment. She had her water shut down again.

Sharon got her first solo byline today covering a legal case.

She takes her dog on a walk to the beach, and that's where Harper strikes.

The brutality is softened by staccato bursts of violence. She's sharing her story with Jinny, who is recounting her story on the ledge of the planetarium.

Kirby tells Jinny she's already been killed by Harper, just not yet.

Kirby and Dan decide to visit Teeny's, the place mentioned in the video of Klara before she was killed.

Dan thinks Kirby should call Marcus to tell him she'll be late. Kirby has decided that Marcus must be a decision she hasn't made yet, and Dan thinks she should share that with him.

Jinny's coworker wonders what happened yesterday. She doesn't want to talk about it, and he asks her to lunch. She just needs a minute.

Harper is in the building, watching a presentation in the planetarium.

He's absolutely seething.

Kirby and Dan are searching the yellow pages and city records for Teeny's location. Kirby breaks away to chat with Marcus. Marcus knows about Teeny's. Dan wrote the article. That he doesn't remember concerns Marcus.

She decides to sit him down to tell him about her. It doesn't go well.

Kirby and Dan arrive at the meat-packing plant. She notices that the precision of the cut suggests that Harper worked there.

When they ask about Klara, the guy at the plant knows of her. The girl who was killed here.

Killing pigs is a very ugly business.

He tells her that they couldn't miss Klara because she was glowing since she was covered in radium.

Kirby and Dan are shocked to discover that Klara was killed in 1920.

Marcus doesn't believe it.

Kirby remembers being attacked and knows that Harper was trying to punish Klara by dumping her in with the blood and the shit.

Jinny is practicing her presentation when her mike is cut. She's calling out to Theo, but Theo isn't in the booth. Harper is playing odd music and sounds. He's playing her own murder to her.

Jinny begins to run, and she buys some time.

Kirby is transported to a time when the area Klara was found still has animals hanging. She knows that Harper was near Jinny and calls her.

The plant still has IDs from some of the children who worked there. They started at age 12. They find Klara's ID first, and then Kirby finds Harper's John Smith ID.

Unbelievably, Marcus takes Kirby's diary to Abby. He thinks it's all her fault for pushing Kirby to cover the story.

Marcus is genuinely frightened about what Kirby is experiencing.

Abby used to allow Dan to work slowly. And then he was arrested. When she bailed him out, he couldn't even remember what he was writing about.

While they're talking outside, Harper is lurking, listening.

He decides to walk away.

Back at the office, Kirby learns that Abby is looking for her. She wants Kirby to take a leave of absence. They'll reassess her position in a few months. Dan tries to halt the process, but Kirby just walks away.

Dan shows Abby the ID, and she thinks he's crazy. Now they both sound nuts.

Kirby's desk is cleared out, and Marcus is carrying a box full of it.

They're on two separate pages. He wants to take her home, but she says that just because she doesn't work here anymore doesn't mean she'll stop looking for him.

Marcus says they have a good life, but she reminds him that it's not hers.

She takes the box from his hands. She'll go by later to get her things from his place. He doesn't push back and tells her to take as long as she needs.

Rachel comes to get her, helping her to pack "anything that looks like hers," but Rachel starts taking anything because fuck Marcus, he got her fired.

Rachel doesn't worry about Kirby since she knows she'll be OK. She was so proud of Kirby before she was attacked. That's something that Kirby had forgotten.

Dan and his son look through evidence, and even his kid can't understand how Klara could have had a receipt from 1981. That's what was left with Klara's body.

Jinny is on edge. It's her big night, but she can't enjoy it.

Harper draws her inside by messing with her presentation. She had it all ready earlier today, but now it's fucked.

She hears someone coming. There's nowhere to run. It's Kirby.

Klara's receipt was from the place Rachel used to play and where Kirby met Klara and Harper.

Kirby is confused. Why isn't Harper here? Jinny doesn't care and runs in after her notes.

Dan wanders the club, where there is a poster for Klara Le Feu. Harper asks Dan how he found her.

Dan turns around to swing at Harper, but Harper guts him. Harper takes Dan's coat and leaves Dan for dead.

Jinny is stopped inside the planetarium. She's wearing jeans and a flannel shirt now. She tells the security guard she's the keynote speaker. But It's Gary who's the keynote now. He doesn't know her. She's frightened and has no idea what's going on.

Jinny heads back outside, where Kirby is waiting. Kirby looks different. What's happened to us?

Dan's son, waiting in the car, asks Harper about his dad. He knows that Harper is wearing Dan's jacket. Harper snickers and walks away.

Shining Girls Season 1 Episode 7 Quotes

Kirby: Your keychain. He took your old one and left it in another woman.
Jinny: What does that mean? Is he gonna kill me?
Kirby: He already has, just not yet.

Kirby: Up until the last week, ah, I didn't really know you. And those photos you showed me, I don't recognize any of them.
Marcus: I don't understand. You, you're having trouble remembering?
Kirby: No. I was never there. Those photos, it wasn't me.
Marcus: Who do you think it was then?
Kirby: It's still me, but it's from a part of my life that I haven't gotten to yet.
Marcus: Really? You think that? How long's it been like this?
Kirby: Since your birthday.
Marcus: Kirby, you can't keep going after this story. You're not going to be OK.
Kirby: I don't know you, but we are together because one day, I will.
