Ichabod is very grumpy as Christmas nears. 

Ichabod calls Henry Parrish to help him find answers about his son in the hopes he can help him contact Katrina.

Henry says he will have to put Ichabod's life into danger and warns Abbie that she will be frightened but must not stop him once he has started, no matter the cost.

Katrina tells Ichabod his son's name is Jeremy, after his grandfather. She didn't know she was with child when she buried him, nor did her coven. She learned of her condition when she fled to Europe to try to determine how to unbind him from the Horseman.

Katrina made Jeremy a scary talisman to keep him safe and then left him in the care of Abbie's ancestor Grace to care for him. She never saw him again.

Abbie and Ichabod appeal to Henry's loss of family to try to get him to stay longer and help them find their own family ties.

Irving visits his preacher to ask about a past sermon he gave about the two witnesses. He believes the witnesses are martyrs who die for their cause, and their followers -- apostles -- die as well.

At the Trinity library, Abbie and Henry learn Grace died in a house fire, which may have been set by Jeremy. Local townspeople said he could set them just by crying. He was later sent to a home for orphaned children of the war.

The librarian is killed and when they go through her possessions, they discover she was a member of a coven. She has a box that seems to hold all of Jeremy's pain and rage. In the absence of a real protector, Jeremy turned the scary talisman into a Golem. The coven the librarian belonged to was a member of the coven that banished Katrina. 

Irving spends time with his daughter, and she tells him not to worry about her, that she will keep fighting things no matter what. Then the hot chocolate man starts to inquire about his daughter's soul, and Irving freaks out.

The witches are following a traveling carnival, in the "four who speak as one" booth. Ichabod goes to speak with them because if they Katrina into purgatory they should be able to get her out. They tell Ichabod it was foretold his arrival would seal their fate. They are to die on the night of his arrival. The veiled women have sharp, pointy teeth like vampires.

When Jeremy refused to work with the coven, they put the golem in purgatory and put a hex on Jeremy to stop his heart and buried him. His son's blood gave the golem life and only his blood can stop it.

Ichabod appeals to the golem to stop his violent rampage and to let Jeremy go and one last chance at saving his son's only friend and protector, but it's necessary to kill him.

Henry is happy he stayed to help his new friends and is glad to have met their acquaintance. 

When Abbie goes to get comfort food, Moloch pulls Ichabod into the mirror and tells him he is after Abbie's soul and that Ichabod will deliver it to him.
