Cruz wakes up in the Lioness team's safe house and meets the rest of the group, aside from Joe and Kaitlyn, and gets briefed on what happened the night before.

Joe and Kaitlyn show up to meet Neal at the hospital as Kate's surgery is finishing, getting an update from the doctor that everything went well with her leg, but the recovery is somewhat of a mystery. The doctor informs Joe and Neal that Kate's body rejected the pregnancy during surgery, and Joe heads back to be with Kate when she wakes up. Kaitlyn allows Joe two hours but clarifies that she can't have three.

Joe greets Kate when she wakes up, careful and soft as she speaks to her daughter gently. Joe explains why she does what she does to Kate, letting Kate know she understands hating her job or hating her, even. Kate reassures Joe she doesn't hate her; she misses her mom.

Joe approaches the topic of Kate's decision to have sex carefully, advising her tearfully to stay a girl for as long as she can. Kate's unsatisfied with the advice and asks Joe if she knows about her situation. Joe explains that Kate lost the pregnancy, asking how that makes her feel. Kate says she's not ready to be a mother. Joe reveals to Kate that she got pregnant with her accidentally, though her circumstances were different: she was already married to Neal, but their situation wasn't ideal.

Joe heads out to the lobby so Kate can be moved into a room. She meets Neal and their younger daughter, Charlie, who is ecstatic to see her mother. Joe explains she'll be back in a few days, hopefully, and tells Neal she loves him. He doesn't say it back until she presses him on it, and the look on his face as she leaves is grave.

Kaitlyn begins looking for career opportunities for Joe, trying to figure out how to station her with her family long-term. In the meantime, the Lioness team has been sent out to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Joe and Kyle exchange barbs at the CIA headquarters while waiting to be called in.

Kaitlyn and her boss, Westfield, told Kyle he was reckless, but his intel on the Texas operation was good. They have put a plan in place and sent the Lioness team ahead to finish the job, but Joe and Kyle are on thin ice. Kaitlyn advises Joe she'll be coming along; that's how much trouble Joe is in with the higher-ups.

In Texas, Joe is confused about why Cruz is with the team, as she's not a part of it but an asset. Kyle explains the scope of the mission to the team, sharing that this is a capture-only mission. The group pushes back, but Kaitlyn steps in and explains this is their mess and they'll need to clean it up.

The team observes the house they'll be breaching, but things go sideways when they see how armed the enemy is. Kaitlyn calls in for backup, and the team understands the calculated risk they'll take. The teams gear up for their mission, then head out.

Joe tries to keep Cruz at bay, but when Cruz pushes back, Kaitlyn admonishes them both and sends them out to do their jobs. The team breaches the house, cutting the power before taking out most of the targets. Cruz ignores an order from Joe to take someone wearing an explosive out, and the threat is neutralized, though things are tense for the team.

As they return to the Air Force base, Cruz asks Joe and Kaitlyn what she should tell Aaliyah about her absence. Joe says she doesn't know, and Kaitlyn says to tell the truth but leave out the names.

Kaitlyn gets home as her husband watches the news about the explosives detonated in San Antonio. He says a little heads-up would've been nice. Kaitlyn says she's inviting their daughters over for dinner, but when her husband pushes back, she says it wasn't a question.

Joe returns to the hospital, entering Kate's room where she's asleep as Neal watches from the window. Neal notices blood on Joe's face that she hadn't realized was there, wondering aloud if he's married to a hitman before leaving the room.

The Lioness team returns to their house at Fort Bragg. Cruz looks over her texts from Aaliyah, which are frequent and frantic, before calling her. Aaliyah answers on the beach, asking Cruz to FaceTime, and Cruz obliges. As the two talk, it's clear that feelings are brewing for both women as Aaliyah pushes for Cruz to return to the Hamptons.

In the hospital waiting room, Neal watches the news about the explosion and understands that Joe is a part of it. She enters the area, looking at Neal before taking a call from Cruz.
