Courtney sets her sights on recruiting more members to the Justice Society of America, but isn't too happy when Beth takes it upon herself to become the new Dr. Mid-Nite.

Upon using Dr. Mid-Nite's goggles in Courtney's bedroom, Beth learns Rick is the son of Rex Tyler, also known as Hourman, prompting Courtney, Yolanda, and Beth to search for him.

The trio find him at Cindy's Halloween party and tell him his father was Hourman, a superhero who used an hourglass that gave him super strength for one hour a day.

Rick takes the hourglass but has no intention of joining the Justice Society until he learns that his parents' death wasn't accident.

A simulation shows Rick's parents were being chased by Solomon Grundy, a member of the Injustice Society of America, which caused the fatal crash.

Rick tells Courtney he doesn't want justice though; he wants revenge.

Elsewhere, Pat begins to suspect Rick is Hourman's son after Rick reveals he's working on a 1966 yellow Ford Mustang.

Pat brings a carburetor to Rick's house as a 'thank you' present for Rick helping him out with his car and asks Matt, Rick's biological uncle and adoptive father, some questions about Rick's parentage.

Flashbacks reveal Rex and Wendy Tyler asked Matt to become Rick's legal father on the night they died to protect their son.

At the end of the episode, Pat discovers Courtney has stolen items from the JSA headquarters.

Stargirl Season 1 Episode 5 Quotes

Pat: Hey, you got something to tell me? Let me guess, you’re running away. No, moving out. Planning on riding the rails, right?
Courtney: It’s a gym backpack. I have gym today.

Rick: You can’t just sell it. It’s mine.
Matt: Gas, electric, food. I mean, who do you think pays for all this? You will never understand what you cost me. If it wasn’t for you…
Rick: You’d be a Silicon Valley millionaire instead of a Blue Valley dirt bag.
