Sophie and Baden go to his apartment, where he shows her proof that James was near the pier the day of her accident. But without any hard evidence, there is no case. He also tells her they'd been seeing each other for a few months before the accident. 

At home, Sophie locates her burner phone and finds a lengthy text history with Baden.

James' company is internally investigated about the missing money.

Sophie goes to the police station looking for Baden and is told no one by that name works there. Later, Baden finds her and tells her that he's undercover narcotics. They discuss believing James is hiding something.

James finds out that he did not get a loan he applied for, causing him distress.

Baden and Sophie get drinks, and he tells her about the first time they met. Later, Baden tells her he will go to his boss and accelerate the case against James.

Caroline goes to Sophie's home after failing to get ahold of her, and she admits that she and James had an affair before Sophie's accident and the two hadn't been talking. She also reveals that Sophie called her and left her a message the morning of the accident.

Baden's boss refuses to expedite the case and warns him not to get his cover blown.

Sophie and James go to his firm's mixer, where Sophie finds out about the investigation.

James admits to Harrison that he took the money from the firm.

Sophie tells Baden about the investigation involving James, and the two share a kiss.
