On The Orville Season 2 Episode 6, Doctor Finn embarks on a romantic relationship with Isaac despite his mechanical nature while Bortus attempts life with a mustache.

Dr. Finn consults with Isaac on a paper she's writing and appreciates his insights as well as his small gestures. Bortus, on the advice of Malloy, asks Dr. Finn to help him grow a mustache.
Dr. Finn confides in Grayson that she is feeling romantic towards Isaac and is considering asking him out. Grayson advises her to trust herself but to remember that Isaac is incapable of emotion. She asks him out to the Union Symphony performance. Afterward, they have a dinner date on the simulator deck but Isaac knows everything about Dr. Finn from the ship's database so there's no getting to know each other.
Dr. Finn lets Keyali and Grayson know that Isaac's rigid approach to dating was a turn-off. Trying to be more spontaneous, Isaac surprises Dr. Finn with a cake in the middle of the night in her bedroom. She tells him that it isn't going to work.
LaMarr gives Isaac a plan to win her back. He invites her to another date on the simulator deck and simulates a human form as well. They make love after which Dr. Finn feels truly in love and Isaac thinks the relationship is over so he breaks up with her.
When Isaac makes a calculation error, he runs a diagnostic and discovers that Dr. Finn's presence has influenced his programming and her absence is creating problems. He wins her back with a grand gesture on the bridge and they embark on a long-term relationship. Bortus shaves off the mustache.
