Franny talks about rebuilding and how difficult it is to do it and do it differently. She doesn't eve know if they have the capability to do it diffferently.

When the baby was born, everyone raised a toast to the future in that promise. But then the baby got sick.

Frannie considered euthanizing the baby rather than letting him suffer, but letting him suffer proved that there is hope. He recovered.

Now, there are two babies.

Krycek helps Frannie get the baby down the stairs. He thinks it's important that people see Frannie and the baby since she's their only remaining connection to Mother Abigail until the others come back. They're gathering for a memorial service for all of those where lost, and of course, timing is everything as Stu limps up.

Flagg survived the blast.

It's the 4th of July holiday blast.

There is line dancing and barbecue.

Frannie wants to go back to Maine. They decide to do it. Sweet goodbyes all around.

They stop along the way at a farm where Kojak senses evil in the corn.

Stu goes shopping, leaving Abigail and Frannie behind. Evil lurks.

Stu gets a flat while Frannie tries the pump. She's crawling around a well that has shady at best structure.

Flagg calls her a bitch, a rat bites her finger, and she plummets down about 20 stories. As Kojak looks at her, she runs into Flagg, restingly happily against a tree. They disagree over whether she's alive or dead.

She shows him a tribe that was never polluted by modern man. They weren't touched by the superflu. Frannie is in a bad way. Flagg runs down her injuries, and she thinks Flagg is lying. Then she sees that Stu is also in danger.

Live or die? Kiss Flagg and allow him to possess her to see how things are going. The baby is on the porch, all alone. Is she dying? Is he lying?

Frannie bites his lip and runs. She finds Mother Abigail. Mother Abigail assures Frannie that Flagg showed her what he wanted her to see to scare her into submission. On his way home, Stu finds Kojak in the road.

When Stu gets to the well, there is a Black girl holding the baby. Frannie wakes after hearing she's got more time, and her children will replenish the earth. Stu calls her baby a lot while doing what the Black girl says to save Frannie. That means he has to climb down the well on the truck's cable.

She's up.

The little girl is either an angel or another Mother Abigail. She heals Frannie.

And just like that, the girl is gone.

In the box with Frannie is a little Black baby doll. Stu smiles.

They're in Maine. Frannie found out that there are two sides to the world. This and a deep well do of darkness, a pit. When she was dying, she saw both of them. She was tempted.

Flagg visits the tribe naked and becomes their god.
