Rand struggles with memories of the past, and wakes up from a nightmare.

A woman comforts him.

 He seems to be settled in Cairhein, where he's developed a rappor with the locals.

Lan and Moirane recover from their fight with The Fade, and their relationship is still strained.

Perrin, Loial, and their group track things to a river bank, where they cross carefully, not knowing who, or what, is waiting on the other side.

In the house across the river, Perrin sees everyone that lived there slaughtered (through his visions).

The group finds a Fade, dead, and strung up.

Rand takes care of an old man they go for a slow walk, but another man ruins their walk by harassing the old man.

Egwene finds out that Nynaeve got taken by Liandrin somewhere unknown.

They visit the hospital, where there's a girl in deep pain and a healer mending her up. The healer heals the girl, which impresses Nynaeve.

Liandrin visits Mat again, with the gift of sweet cakes, which he believes are a trap.

He feigns interest, but when she leaves, he eats them intensely. He also shows some sign of digging his way out of where he's being held.

Egwene and Elayne get to know each other more.

Nynaeve followed Liandrin to a place where she took care of a sick man, who she called "her boy." Liandrin got mad at Nynaeve scaring her off.

Rand accidentally kills the man who attacked the old man, by channeling.

Moirane and Lan reflect on the life they had together, and how they met.

Min, the woman in the cell next to Mat, climbs through the hole they made in the wall to share a drink with Mat.

Min sees a vision of Mat killing Rand with the cursed knife.

Nynaeve overhears Egwene and Elayne talking about her, and Nynaeve gets emotional.

Liandrin fetches Nynaeve from her room and leads her down a dark tunnel, and to the trial of the arches.

Moirane admits that she made a mistake at the Eye of the World, releasing Ishmael.

Moirane reveals that Rand is alive to Lan, and accuses Lan of failing her.

She has Alanna ready to take Lan to take his bond by force, and she leaves Lan, claiming they were never equals.

Perrin wakes up to men attacking him, and his whole party fighting against masked assailants.

The assailants are attacking the whole town, and have Loial in a strong trap, nearly killing him.

Perrin saves Loial, who then is able to fight the assailants with his full force.

The assailants reveal they have powerful channelers on their side, and it seems their ruler is working with Ishamael.

Rand is taken to a special patient, who is revealed to Logain, the false dragon from the first season.
