Recap

Tourism has begun, with Ned taking advantage by renting bicycles. Bill is angry and especially doesn’t like people parking in front of the hitching posts. When he sees a beautiful woman and her son, he’s a little less angry.

Mrs. St. John and her son, Jamie, who wonders if Bill is a real cowboy. They’re all the way from Philadelphia. When Bill wants his “usual” in his booth, he finds Mrs. St. John and Jamie occupying it. Lucas is just surprised Bill has a “usual.”

Rosemary and Lee are making room for the nursery. She’s overdoing, of course. As the due date grows closer, she’s both more eager and more nervous. Elizabeth is there to stand beside her, but Rosemary has a list of suggested activities for her bridal shower. At the same time she’s mentioning she’s been telling Lee not to overthink, she’s doing the very thing.

Lee has a trunk in his hands. Rosemary hasn’t looked though it. Out with the old, she says.

Elizabeth is teaching science today.

Nathan is waiting for Faith outside of her office, and they get into a little scuffle about his accompanying her on her routes. She says she’ll ask Mike or Robert since his time is so valuable.

The ladies of Hope Valley prepare for Rosemary’s shower before she arrives to tell them what not to prepare.

Jamie talks with Henry about Hope Valley and hears about prison. Mike and Lucas can’t believe how calm Henry seems about the possibility of spending the next six years in prison.

Lucas talks with Jerome about the mine incident. Lucas came across a report noting the safety of the mine and its unsafe listing. Jerome says the engineer recanted, and then reports that the man passed away last month. Is Jerome a murderer too?

Mrs. St. John arrives at Abigail’s to find the mayor, who is serving coffee. Her name is Madeline. Her husband recently died, and she’s traveling west to take care of his estate. She saw the article about the hot springs and wanted to give it a try. Perhaps Bill could give her a tour? She offers him money since he’s holding down two jobs. Minnie steps in to say they own it together, and Madeline apologizes for putting her foot in her mouth again.

Rosemary finally begins to relax on her spa day. Outside of Fiona’s, people are darting by with decorations.

Nathan has provided that Faith requires police protection. Just doing his duty. She grants him permission to accompany her. It’s her wagon, her horse, and her patients, after all.

Bill helps the kids with their science project, and Jamie wants to tag along.

Jamie is a better advisor for the students than Bill. He talks about his school that has no girls because it’s the best in the state, and cannot believe that they are students in a one-room schoolhouse. How do they learn anything that way and if it’s actually fun?

Nathan bent the wagon wheel going off after Scout chasing a squirrel. Now he can tell everyone he’s saved Faith from bandits and squirrels.

Rosemary is so worried about the shower. She pops out of the chair every other second.

They wipe the mask off of one cheek (one per visit), and rush Rosemary off to the shower, the whole while she discusses not playing “don’t say baby” at the shower.

The door to Abigail’s opens as she’s still chattering, and she’s totally taken by surprise. It’s perfect, she says. Just perfect.

As everyone tells Rosemary she’ll be an incredible mother, a cloud passes over her face. She’s still having doubts.

Jamie likes Hope Valley. The air is different, and he hasn’t been bored at all. Madeline appears to mull over what that means to them.

Minnie has a lovely family custom in which they light candles and keep them lit while someone gives birth until the new child has been born so the mother knows she’s not alone.

The delivery Lucas had earlier is a signed confession from the dead inspector. Jerome is not impressed. Lucas wants to introduce it in a closed door meeting with the judge. It accuses Jerome of bribery, and if things go well, it could introduce a new trial in which he is the defendant instead of Henry Gowen. Jerome cannot tell if he’s bluffing, but he doesn’t like any odds that land him in prison. To make them go away, Lucas wants him to tell the judge he’s reconsidered the veracity of the charges so that Henry is a free man.

Inside the envelope is a blank piece of paper. Lucas is indeed an excellent poker player.

After the shower, Rosemary is introspective. She knows that Elizabeth set that up to calm her nerves. Part of motherhood is supporting other mothers, Elizabeth says. Rosemary sees that not only does she have a best friend who is like a sister to her, but a whole family.

Madeline makes a call to someone saying that these are nice people and wondering if this is the only way. The news from the other side isn’t good.

Gowen visits Lucas to find out why the charges were dropped. He is angry. Lucas has taken from Henry the opportunity to pay his own bill. Lucas wasn’t going to let a good man and a good friend go to prison for doing the right thing, but if he’s wrong, he apologizes.

Blowing up the mine created the hot springs, and Allie is so excited to tell him about it. Maybe, finally, he can finding something to lean into rather than running away from.

When Rosemary gets home, Lee has a rocking chair and a cradle for Rosemary. He’s also going to make a high chair, a crib, and a swing for the backyard. With Joseph’s help, of course.

Lee tells Rosemary that she’ll be a wonderful mother, and she wonders if Elizabeth got to him too. He doesn’t know what she means, and she realizes he means it. She’s starting to realize it too.

Lucas has a piece of cake for Elizabeth. A recipe from their grandmother — vanilla and lavender. It was his favorite growing up, and he wants Gustav to make it for their wedding. He teases her about the extravagance. It will be made to her specifications.

Lucas wonders if Elizabeth is OK with him using some of his old tricks to free a friend, and she kind of loves him for it.

Henry: Prison.
Jamie: Oh. Well, I hope you don’t have to be there too long.
Henry: That’s a nice thing to say.

Elizabeth: So, Rosemary still thinks that the shower is next week.
Molly: Very impressive, Elizabeth, that your acting can fool even Rosemary.
