What do you get when you put Rachel Bilson and Eddie Cibrian together in a TV show?
A whole lot of chemistry.
ABC has dropped the first trailer for Take Two, and it looks like it's going to be one of the best new shows of the summer.
The official logline for the series reads:
Ella (Bilson), the former star of a hit cop series, is fresh out of-rehab following a bender of epic proportion. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing rough-and-tumble private investigator Eddie (Cibrian) as research for a potential comeback role.
Though lone wolf Eddie resents the babysitting gig, high-spirited Ella proves herself to be surprisingly valuable, drawing on her acting skills and 200 episodes of playing a detective. When the press touts Ella’s role in solving a high-profile case, Eddie finds his phone ringing off the hook with new clients looking to hire the pair.
There are a lot of similarities to Castle in the trailer, and that could be attributed to this series coming from Castle executive producers Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W. Marlowe.
It's an interesting concept and looks set to be a light procedural that audiences are not supposed to take seriously.
In other words: It's perfect for the summer TV!
ABC has confirmed that Take Two will bow June 21 at 10/9c. It's certainly an odd slot for a show like this, but Castle managed to flourish in a later time slot.
